The former MU star will have his final match for FC Seoul against Melbourne City in the AFC Champions League Elite qualifying round on December 10, before officially entering a new chapter in his career.
Joining Seoul in February last year and considered the biggest contract in K.League history, Lingard once created a media fever in Korea. However, after what were described as positive discussions with the board of directors, the two sides agreed to go their separate ways a few months early.
The 32-year-old midfielder shared his emotional message on social media: "FC Seoul and I have agreed to end our contract at the end of the 2025 season. The match on December 10 will be my last time playing for the club. This was not an easy decision. My time playing in Korea has been truly amazing, from the football, the atmosphere to the enthusiasm of the fans. The love everyone has shown me over the past 2 years is admirable. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to play for a big club like FC Seoul."
With the January transfer window about to open, the future of the English star is of interest to many clubs. He has confirmed that he is ready for the next stage after an unforgettable experience in the K.League. Lingard is likely to seek a higher level of competition.
Since joining the capital club, Lingard has played 66 times, scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists – quite impressive numbers for a player who has struggled to find form. He arrived in Seoul on a free transfer after a lacklustre spell at Nottingham Forest.
Previously, Lingard was with MU for 22 years, played 232 matches and contributed to 3 major titles including FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup.
