Kane helps Bayern come from behind to beat their arch-rivals.

German striker Harry Kane scored to help Bayern Munich beat visiting team Gladbach 3-1 in round 20 of the Bundesliga.

Since the 2017-2018 season, Bayern had always lost to Gladbach by at least one game each season, until they broke the jinx this season. Thomas Tuchel's side fell behind, but this time Harry Kane made the difference with a goal that put them 2-1 up.

In the 70th minute, from a cross by Leon Goretzka on the left, striker Thomas Muller rushed in to contest the aerial ball with goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas. The visiting goalkeeper made a mistake, pushing the ball right to Kane, allowing the English striker to head it into the empty net.

This is Kane's 24th goal in 20 Bundesliga matches this season. The previous record for the fastest player to score 24 goals belonged to Erling Haaland for Dortmund, with 25 matches. Kane has broken Haaland's record by five matches, and is also close to breaking several other records. With just seven more goals, Kane will break the record for the most goals scored by a rookie in their first Bundesliga season, set by Uwe Seeler with Hamburg with 30 goals.

In the win against Gladbach earlier in the season, Kane's scoring streak in the Bundesliga came to an end. This time, he scored against Bayern's nemesis. Only three teams remain undefeated against by Kane in the league: Freiburg, Frankfurt, and Bremen.

The match on February 3rd also marked Muller's 500th victory with Bayern, in 690 games. He is only 16 games away from goalkeeper Sepp Maier's record for the most appearances for Bayern. It is highly likely that Muller will break this record by the end of the season, as Bayern still have two competitions remaining: the Champions League and the Bundesliga.

Three points against Gladbach weren't enough for Bayern to top the Bundesliga table, as Bayer Leverkusen also beat Darmstadt 2-0 in their simultaneous match. These results make the clash between Bayern and Leverkusen in round 21 even more exciting. This match, considered an "early final" of the Bundesliga, will take place on February 10th.
