On August 15, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor and reward excellent students of the 2024-2025 school year.
Maintain the number 2 position nationwide in the number of excellent students
According to Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, in the 2024-2025 school year, the education and training sector has completed the task of training and fostering excellent students. Excellent student competitions at all levels are organized creatively, seriously, objectively, and in accordance with regulations.
According to the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 national excellent student exam, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation won 166 prizes, maintaining the 2nd position, the number of first prizes increased in all subjects, including 1 student winning the valedictorian position in English. Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old) won 56 prizes, ranked 27th out of 63 provinces and cities (old); Binh Duong province (old) won 46 prizes, an increase of 2 second prizes and 2 consolation prizes compared to the 2023-2024 school year.
The project to develop artificial intelligence applications by students of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted won first prize at the national level and fourth prize at the 2025 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Student Le Phan Duc Man (Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted) won a silver medal in mathematics at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Australia.

At the city-level excellent student competition, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted won 308 prizes, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted won 177 prizes, maintaining the leading position. At the secondary school level, the (old) Departments of Education and Training with the highest number of students winning prizes were Go Vap, Tan Phu, Binh Thanh, Tan Binh.
Region 2 has 251 students winning prizes at the junior high school level and 333 students winning prizes at the high school level; Region 3 has 409 students winning prizes at the junior high school level and 884 students winning prizes at the high school level...

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, affirmed that this excellent result was achieved first and foremost thanks to the efforts of the students themselves, the dedication of teachers, the care of their families, and the support of the school and friends.

The Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that after the merger, the scale of Ho Chi Minh City expanded, the number of students increased, but the number of specialized schools in the area was not many. Ho Chi Minh City also did not have a specialized school for training gifted students in arts subjects. Therefore, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that the Department of Education and Training should pay attention to, advise on building and developing more schools to become specialized schools; at the same time, research and propose the establishment of specialized schools for gifted students in culture and arts.
