(To Quoc) - On the evening of November 16th, the opening ceremony of the first Red Ceramic Brick - Green Economy Festival of Vinh Long province in 2024 was solemnly held at Kinh Thay Cai ceramic brick village (Mang Thit district, Vinh Long province).

The opening night was very impressive, featuring a floating stage on a 3,000-ton barge located along the Thầy Cai canal, in the heart of the centuries-old brick and tile making village.

Attending the opening ceremony were Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Prime Minister; Comrade Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh - former Member of the Central Committee of the Party, former Acting President ; Comrade Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with leaders of central ministries and agencies.

Representing Vinh Long province were Comrade Bui Van Nghiem - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Nguyen Thanh The - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Lu Quang Ngoi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with leaders of provincial departments and agencies, leaders of localities; former provincial leaders from various periods, and a large number of local people and tourists from inside and outside the province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the first Vinh Long Province Red Ceramic and Green Economy Festival in 2024, the Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, Bui Van Nghiem, stated that with the desire to transform the local traditional craft villages into attractive tourist destinations, Vinh Long province has coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association to organize the first Vinh Long Province Red Ceramic and Green Economy Festival in 2024 on a regional scale in the Mekong Delta, with the participation of Ho Chi Minh City and several provinces and cities in the Central and Northern regions.

The Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee emphasized that this event, in addition to continuing to honor the diligent, creative spirit and skillful hands of the people of Vinh Long for over 100 years, also represents the dedication of the younger generation who wish to preserve a traditional craft village unique to this land. Above all, it is the culmination of the aspiration that the "Kingdom of Red Bricks and Pottery" will become an attractive tourist destination, so that the moss-covered, ancient brick kilns can bring Vinh Long's culture to all parts of the country.

Bui Van Nghiem, Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, delivered the opening speech at the first Vinh Long Province Red Ceramic Tile and Green Economy Festival in 2024.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc assessed that, in the current context, when climate change and environmental pollution are becoming global challenges, sustainable economic development and building a green economy are extremely necessary. Therefore, the Red Ceramic Tile Festival - Green Economy in Vinh Long has immense significance and is a pioneering step, demonstrating the long-term vision and innovative creativity of the locality.

This event not only promotes the development of traditional crafts, but also honors the traditional values, history, culture, art, and unique cultural identity of the heroic land of Vinh Long, demonstrating a determination to transform and harmoniously combine economic development and environmental protection in the Mekong Delta and the whole country.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc delivered a speech at the ceremony.

"I hope that in the future, the red brick making industry will develop to a new level, with products becoming more diverse, abundant, sophisticated, and aesthetically pleasing, and of better quality, reaching further into the world. These red brick kilns will become magnificent, shimmering castles under the sunlight, not only creating rare and valuable products that embody the identity of the Mekong Delta region and are a cultural characteristic of our area, but also becoming an attractive destination for tourists from all over the world to visit the Mekong Delta," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

At the opening ceremony, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province announced the General Planning Project for the construction of the brick and pottery kiln area in Mang Thit district, Vinh Long province, until 2045. The project aims to realize the policy of building a place to preserve and develop the "Kingdom of brick and pottery kilns" with a history of hundreds of years.

On this occasion, Vinh Long also awarded prizes for the Planning Ideas and Architectural Design Competition for the Mekong Delta Agricultural Museum - a competition aimed at selecting ideas to complete the project of building an agricultural museum in the Mekong Delta region in Vinh Long province.

The spectacular cultural performances vividly recreated the historical journey of the southern region, the long-standing cultural and historical landmarks of Vinh Long, a land of outstanding people and rich history, along with new hopes and aspirations.

Besides the impressive opening night, people also had the opportunity to visit the trade fair, agricultural, and tourism exhibition with 700-800 booths. The highlight of the first Vinh Long Red Brick and Ceramic - Green Economy Festival in 2024 was a series of activities including experiencing the exhibition space and production of bricks and ceramics, showcasing the unique culture, recreating the atmosphere of the riverside, setting a Vietnamese record for 102 dishes made from and served with tofu skin (the first of its kind in Vietnam); traditional sampan boat racing; water puppetry performances; LED kite flying, etc.
