Opening of the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Festival

In his opening speech, Mr. Lam Dinh Thang - Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in 2024, the Children's Book Festival will be invested in and organized at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and Thu Duc City Book Street with many new features and exciting activities to take care of children in addition to the city's series of activities to take care of children during the summer.

The book fair was organized with many useful activities, with good and meaningful books selected and introduced to readers, meeting the reading needs of children and parents throughout 10 days.

The Children's Book Fair has become one of the familiar destinations during the summer, a program dedicated to children, demonstrating the interest of the city's information and communication industry.

Through 5 times of organization (from 2019 to 2024), each year the Children's Book Fair exhibits and displays more than 20,000 good book titles, associated with the year's theme with experiential activities from tradition, folklore to new technology experiences.

In the Book Fairs, the Organizing Committee also took care of children in difficult circumstances, especially at the 2022 Children's Book Fair, taking care of 2,400 children in difficult circumstances affected by the Covid-19 pandemic worth 500 million VND, giving 300 gifts to 300 children in especially difficult circumstances worth 150 million VND...

During this time, there are nearly 100 programs taking place, including 59 programs at the City Book Street (an increase of 50% compared to the Children's Book Festival in 2023) and nearly 30 programs at Thu Duc Book Street, introducing more than 40,000 books of diverse genres, rich in content for children, activities to experience the virtual reality glasses system with knowledge content on science and technology, book libraries; discussion programs, book introductions of participating units; drum and trumpet performances of schools in the city.
