Opening Ceremony of the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Fair

In his opening remarks, Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, stated that in 2024, the Children's Book Fair will be organized at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and the Thu Duc City Book Street with many new features and vibrant activities aimed at caring for children and teenagers, alongside the city's series of activities to care for children during the summer.

The book fair was organized with many beneficial activities, featuring selected and meaningful books to introduce to readers, meeting the reading needs of young people and parents throughout the 10-day period.

The Children's Book Fair has become a familiar destination during the summer, a program specifically for young people, demonstrating the concern of the city's information and communication sector.

Over its five editions (from 2019 to 2024), the Children's Book Fair has showcased more than 20,000 excellent book titles each year, linked to the theme of the year, along with experiential activities ranging from traditional and folk art to new technology experiences.

At the book fairs, the Organizing Committee also took care of disadvantaged children, especially at the 2022 Children's Book Fair, providing support to 2400 disadvantaged children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with a value of 500 million VND, and giving 300 separate gifts worth 150 million VND to 300 children in particularly difficult circumstances…

During this period, nearly 100 programs took place, including 59 programs at the City Book Street (a 50% increase compared to the 2023 Children's Book Fair) and nearly 30 programs at Thu Duc Book Street, introducing more than 40,000 diverse book titles with rich content for children; activities such as experiencing virtual reality equipment systems with knowledge about science and technology, library books; seminars and book introductions by participating units; and drum and brass band performances by schools in the city.
