Opening Ceremony of the 7th Children's Mathematics Olympiad – 2011

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Education Publishing House, Hong Ha Stationery Corporation – the main sponsor of the competition, and a large number of contestants. Notably, the 2011 Children's Mathematics Olympiad had a total of 288 contestants/48 teams representing both primary and secondary schools, consisting of outstanding students from 28 provinces and cities. This was also the largest number of contestants, teams, and participating localities ever.

This year, according to the organizers, the number of participants and provinces is higher, and the level of knowledge and skills of the contestants has also improved, promising a more exciting and competitive competition. 288 middle and elementary school students will compete in two categories: individual and team relay, as well as a beautiful handwriting competition. Of these, 186 elementary school students are divided into 31 teams, and 102 middle school students are divided into 17 teams. At the elementary level, 186 students will compete in 31 teams and 17 middle school teams. There will be 18 individual gold medals, 36 silver medals, and 54 bronze medals, along with 2 gold trophies, 6 silver trophies, and 9 bronze trophies awarded. At the junior high school level, 102 students competed in 17 teams, vying for 11 gold medals, 22 silver medals, 33 bronze medals, and 6 bronze trophies.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Mai - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee - presented the Cup and Certificates of Merit to students who won prizes in the Mathematics Olympiad via mail at the primary school level, with 6 teams and 6 individuals winning Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals; and at the secondary school level, there were 18 individual awards (3 gold, 3 silver, and 12 bronze).
