The works are divided into two distinct emotional themes. The first group evokes the early stages of geology, with associations to dark red lava flows and the process of matter formation. These are the artist's reflections on the origins of Earth, the birthplace and nurturing ground of life.

The second group delves into conceptual structures such as "Chaos," "Genetic Memory," or "The Boundary of Dreams," where imagination and memory become the foundation of creativity. These two thematic threads form a central axis, from the origins of matter to the deeper layers of consciousness.
Hien Nguyen chose abstract painting as her main direction. She explains, "This is a means to project my thoughts, soul, and subconscious and allows me to connect with my true self."

Artist Hien Nguyen shared: "I was born just a few years before the war ended and grew up in the economic hardships of the post-war 1980s. After turning 30, I dedicated all my time to creating lacquer paintings after giving up my career in clothing and fashion design. For me, painting is a means to feel alive."
According to the exhibition curator, researcher Vu Huy Thon, Hien Nguyen's works revolve around the concept of space – a challenging yet fascinating aspect of painting. He noted that the remarkable aspect lies in the ability of each painting to expand the physical boundaries. From a two-dimensional plane, the works evoke a sense of "expansion" into multiple spatial dimensions, aiming for a beauty that is both material and metaphysical.

He also argued that, while science continues to seek explanations for the universe, art opens up other avenues of discovery. Through their creations, artists like Hien Nguyen demonstrate that imagination can lead humanity on endless journeys, not only towards the outer universe but also into the inner world.

Critic Nguyen Thanh Son assessed that Hien Nguyen's recent lacquer paintings demonstrate a unique exploratory process. The way she layers, polishes, reveals, or conceals details is not simply a technique but reflects how she perceives the world – a world with depth, memories, and layers of meaning that are difficult to name.
Prior to "Trẩy," artist Hiền Nguyễn had seven solo exhibitions in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Virginia (USA), including: Toảo, The Heart Opens to the Wonders of the Universe, Mải, Mở, Thở, Ủ, and The Levels of Emotion .
