In 2025, Thanh Hoa province's tourism industry aims to welcome 16 million visitors, generating a total revenue of 45.5 trillion VND, significantly higher than the figure achieved in 2024. To realize this goal, Thanh Hoa province has implemented many additional services, seen as opening new avenues to attract tourists to the region.
One concrete action taken was the announcement of hiking and nature exploration tours in the mountainous districts of the province, including 12 routes in the districts of Bá Thước, Quan Hóa, and Thường Xuân. And just under a month after its announcement, this novel tourism product has been exploited by many domestic travel agencies and has been well-received and highly appreciated by tourists.
In addition, Thanh Hoa province recently developed a Project for the Development of Agricultural Tourism in Thanh Hoa Province until 2030, aiming to successfully develop 6 main product lines at 29 agricultural and rural tourism destinations; and to define 5 agricultural tourism development zones and 3 agricultural tourism routes.
As a province with a large agricultural area, Thanh Hoa has shown interest in developing tourism based on agriculture, but this development remains largely spontaneous. While some agricultural tourism models exist, such as Golden Cow Farm (Thuong Xuan), Queen Farm (Quang Xuong), T-Farm (Dong Son), and Yen Trung Tourist Village (Yen Dinh), tourists primarily experience the production process and enjoy fresh produce on-site; revenue from tourists is still insignificant.
With the desire to move away from a spontaneous state and gradually become professional, Thanh Hoa province's development of the Thanh Hoa Province Agricultural Tourism Development Plan until 2030 is considered a suitable step. The plan sets a target of welcoming over 1.1 million agricultural tourism visitors by 2030, generating a total revenue of 741 billion VND, and attracting 9,000 workers.
For a long time, some tourists have felt that Thanh Hoa's tourism products are limited to traditional forms of tourism such as swimming in the sea, bathing in waterfalls, exploring historical sites, and relaxing in buffer zones of conservation areas. They desire new, more adventurous tourism experiences. Eco-tourism and trekking tours are seen as products that can offer fresh perspectives, extending the length of stay and increasing spending by tourists in Thanh Hoa, and gradually completing the picture of "Thanh Hoa Tourism - The Beauty of Four Seasons," as the province announced. The direction has been opened, and resources are ready for transformation. The remaining issue is human action, in the spirit outlined by the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Van Thi, at the ceremony announcing the trekking routes in the mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa province: all stakeholders must truly share responsibility and work for the common good. We do not accept the "rapid growth" approach to tourism with a short-term vision that destroys resources and results in double losses.
