(PLVN) - The Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don route has officially commenced commercial operation with its first flight carrying 216 passengers to Quang Ninh. Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to increase the frequency to one flight per day from August.

On the opening day, flights recorded occupancy rates exceeding 90%, demonstrating strong demand for connectivity between the southern economic hub and the northeastern gateway region.

According to the plan, the Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don route will operate four round-trip flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. To meet passenger demand, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to increase the frequency of this route to one flight per day, starting in August.

The launch of the Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don flight route not only adds a direct connection between the two economic and tourism hubs of the country but also contributes to increasing accessibility for tourists from the South to Quang Ninh province - one of the fastest-growing destinations in the North.

Departing at 3:30 PM on June 15th from Ho Chi Minh City, Sun PhuQuoc Airways flight 9G1568 carrying 216 passengers landed at Van Don International Airport at 5:30 PM, officially launching the Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don route for commercial operation. In the opposite direction, the flight from Van Don, carrying 198 passengers, took off at 6:10 PM and landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 8:30 PM the same day.
