Coming from a family with a business tradition, it was expected that he would follow in their footsteps and become an entrepreneur. However, he chose his own path to fulfill his childhood passion for photography, a field that demands finesse and creativity.
“Although this artistic path is not easy, thanks to the support from my family and the valuable advice from photographer Bui Minh Son, I have been able to move forward and continue pursuing my dream. Photography is not just a hobby; it has become an indispensable part of my life, helping me explore and understand the world around me more deeply,” shared photographer Le Minh Vu. |
A place to open up and share your feelings.
Beginning his creative work in 2005, he enjoyed wandering around his hometown of Go Cong to find inspiration. Pursuing everyday life photography, focusing on people and their lives, particularly the sea, livelihoods, and honest, simple laborers, he shared: “ Photography has brought me many valuable things in life; it’s a place to express my feelings and thoughts; it provides a stable income for my family; and it has helped me meet mentors and friends who share the same passion.”
He has taken many photos of Go Cong from different angles, hoping to widely promote the beauty of his hometown. Most of his award-winning works were also taken in Go Cong. He is currently planning to photograph rural markets in the rain, capturing people and surrounding landscapes in the rain. Besides his work at the studio, with his acquired knowledge, he is willing to participate in workshops on the application of artificial intelligence in Photoshop image processing, scriptwriting for videos , voice-over recording, editing and post-production, and designing online news pages...
From contestants to judges
By chance, Quyen Vu met photographer Bui Minh Son, a prominent figure in Vietnamese photography and former Chairman of the Art Council of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association. This encounter opened up new horizons, allowing him not only to learn professional photography techniques but also to be inspired by his talented and dedicated mentor.
“Under my teacher’s guidance, I have discovered and developed my abilities, from taking sharp landscape and portrait photos to capturing meaningful everyday moments. Each photo tells a story, conveying emotions that I want to share with the viewer,” Quyen Vu shared.
Following a memorable experience participating in a photo appraisal camp in Vung Tau, organized by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists , he began judging art photography competitions both within and outside the province.
“As a judge, I see not just the image, but also the story, thoughts, and emotions that the photographer wants to convey. Each photograph has its own unique style and tone, making it both interesting and challenging for me to choose the best work. The feeling when judging is a blend of respect, fairness, and responsibility. Behind each photograph is the photographer's tireless effort, so I always try to give accurate and constructive feedback to help the contestants develop.”
Having gone through the process from contestant to judge, he has gained a deeper understanding of the differences between these two roles, and has learned many valuable lessons from both. For him, being a judge is not just about evaluating works, but also about sharing experiences, encouraging and motivating new talents, helping them continue their journey in pursuing their passion for photography.
