In the Hoa Phong rice fields (Tay Hoa commune), over 89% of the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop has been basically harvested. Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, Director of the Hoa Phong Agricultural Business and Service Cooperative, said: "Currently, the cooperative has harvested 500 out of 557 hectares of rice, with a yield of 79.1 quintals/hectare. During the recent rain, 10 hectares of rice were flooded. To overcome this, the cooperative had irrigation workers dredge the drainage ditches and seal all irrigation culverts; as soon as the water receded, they immediately put combine harvesters into the fields, fearing that further rain would make the soil too soft to be harvested by machine. For the flooded rice fields where the rice was flattened to the ground and could not be reached by combine harvesters, the cooperative guided farmers to quickly harvest manually according to the principle of 'better to harvest while the rice is still green than to let it ripen too much in the field'. To ensure the harvest proceeds according to schedule, the cooperative mobilized 32 combine harvesters from the beginning. The cooperative guarantees that the entire area will be harvested by September 17th."

In Dong Hoa ward, 98 hectares of rice fields were flattened by the wind, and 92 hectares have been harvested so far. For the 2025 summer-autumn crop, Dong Hoa ward sowed 2,078 hectares of rice, and 1,425 hectares have been harvested.
Mr. Nguyen Hung Anh Kiet, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hoa Ward, said: "Usually, the rainy season starts at the end of September or the beginning of October, but this year, the unusually heavy rains in early September caused some areas of ripe rice to be flattened. However, because the water receded quickly and the sun came out a few days later, it did not significantly affect the yield and quality of the rice. According to the plan, the entire area of summer-autumn rice will be harvested by September 20th."
Besides Dong Hoa ward, O Loan commune also has a large area of rice fields that were flooded and flattened due to the recent heavy rains. However, to date, 160 out of 210 hectares of flooded rice in this commune have been harvested.
| Despite the heavy rain, the water receded quickly, so most of the rice fields were still harvested using combine harvesters. |
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Secretary of the Party Committee of O Loan commune, the flooding only lasted 5-6 hours, but the water receded quickly because the area mainly consists of sandy soil. The rice paddies did not become soft, so harvesting after the rain was not significantly affected and did not cause considerable damage. However, to avoid further rain that could cause the fields to become waterlogged, the local authorities instructed that rice that is fully ripe should be harvested quickly and not left in the fields for too long, while for areas where the rice is still young, the irrigation system must ensure timely drainage. The commune is also considering mobilizing forces to assist farmers in harvesting rice, in case of localized situations.
Mr. Truong Quang Tuong, Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, informed: "The total area for summer-autumn rice planting in the eastern part of the province in 2025 is 24,755 hectares with the main rice varieties: DV108, Dai Thom 8, BDR27, PY10 and supplementary varieties: MT10, BDB6, CH133, PY8… By September 15th, farmers had harvested 10,000 hectares, accounting for over 40%. The estimated yield is 72 quintals/hectare. According to the plan, by the end of September (from September 20-25), 100% of the area will be harvested."
