Traditional cakes are not only delicious in terms of ingredients and materials, but also visually appealing. The meticulousness and skillfulness of mothers and sisters in arranging and decorating the cake trays help the culinary space become more lively, contributing to enhancing the value of the dish; expressing the fullness of love and affection, respect for family and friends as well as the hospitality of the people of Ca Mau.
To contribute to promoting local delicacies, recently, at cultural events, folk cake competitions often take place with many artisans and families participating in performances, attracting many visitors from near and far to visit and enjoy. Folk cakes such as: banh xeo, banh it, banh phu the, banh tet ngu sac, banh sam, banh bo, banh duc... are made and displayed by women with the desire to recreate memories of the cakes associated with the childhood of many people in the South.
Just delicious rice flour combined with ripe bananas and coconut milk is enough to make steamed banana cake. Add in the skillful decoration of the ladies, just looking at it makes you crave it.
The traditional cake tray stands out with the image of a yellow star on a red background, symbolizing the national flag, celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
Banh bot loc is decorated in the shape of a map of Vietnam by women in Ward 6, Ca Mau City.
Banh xeo has a strong hometown flavor, made from flour, spices, turmeric, duck meat, shrimp stir-fried with coconut roots, and is delicious eaten with wild vegetables.
The Tran Van Thoi sweetening area is rich in raw materials, which local women use to make traditional cakes, impressively decorated on the occasion of the Southern Traditional Cake Festival in Ca Mau City recently.
