When AirDrop becomes a nightmare

A romantic date suddenly turns into a nightmare when the female protagonist is stalked and threatened by an anonymous assailant via the iPhone's AirDrop feature. She even has her son kidnapped by the assailant, who forces her to kill her date. This is the breathtaking situation depicted in the blockbuster film "Drop."

The main character is Violet, a single mother eagerly preparing for her first date after a long time chatting on a dating app. Her date is Henry, a handsome and funny guy, leaving Violet anxiously anticipating the events of their first meeting.

This mysterious person seemed to be tracking her every move and was ready to attack her family if Violet didn't comply with his demands. Furthermore, he demanded that she kill Henry, her date, because he held certain secrets related to him.

As you can see, Drop still holds many secrets and twists awaiting viewers, alongside thrilling and suspenseful details. The plot is suspenseful and heart-stopping. Will Violet be able to overcome her fear to expose the true face of her enemy?

Through "Drop," the filmmaker aims to reflect on the insecurity that arises as technology increasingly infiltrates people's lives, while simultaneously condemning pressing social issues such as domestic violence, psychological trauma, and the dark side of modern technology.

Screen Rant praised “Drop” as a thrilling and engaging mystery thriller that delivered a satisfying feeling they hadn’t experienced in the genre in a long time.

Andrew J. Salazar of Discussing Film used the words "super fun" and "clever" to praise "Drop" for its clever use of the Digidrop concept (inspired by AirDrop) to create surprise and suspense.

The Guardian argues that the story is tightly constructed within a single space, reminiscent of Hitchcock's style, with an engaging "whodunit" detective element. The theme of unease in the age of technology is handled skillfully, making it timely and relatable.

In terms of acting, the lead role of Violet, played by Meghann Fahy, is praised as the soul of the film. She successfully delivers a performance that is both fragile and strong, decisive. Along with Brandon Sklenar, they form a compelling couple, evoking emotions on the brink of life and death.
