Over 1,000 newspapers from the Vietnam News Agency were meticulously prepared and distributed free of charge to each passenger. Here, the Vietnam News Agency offered passengers prominent publications such as the semi-monthly Vietnam Economic and World magazine, Sports & Culture newspaper, News newspaper, Vietnam News, Le Courrier du Vietnam, etc. Available in a variety of languages, from Vietnamese and English to French, these newspapers not only met the information needs of domestic tourists but also served international visitors. The presence of mainstream newspapers on the "Hanoi 5 Gates" train created a special impression, connecting current events with cultural and tourism experiences. These were not just newspapers to read while traveling, but also a "spiritual nourishment" helping tourists stay up-to-date on economic, cultural, and social information.
Passengers boarding the train easily spot stacks of newspapers neatly arranged in convenient locations. Many, without even choosing a seat, grab a publication to read. For them, the train journey is not just a sightseeing trip through the windows of the capital and the Kinh Bac region, but also an "information train," where pressing issues of socio-economic life are vividly reflected in each article.
Ms. Phung Thi Thanh Nhan, a passenger from Hanoi, shared: “The publications of the Vietnam News Agency keep up with the socio-economic developments, which is very useful for us. This is a quick and reliable way to access information even on this short trip.”
Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Ngo Lan Phuong (Hanoi) expressed her enthusiasm: “This is our first time experiencing the five-gate train, and we not only received attentive service but also had the opportunity to read newspapers from the Vietnam News Agency with full, official information. This builds trust and gives us hope that the Vietnam News Agency will continue to provide even more up-to-date news.”
Since its official launch on September 6th, the "Hanoi 5 Gates" train has welcomed thousands of passengers. The key innovation is the combination of railway tourism and mainstream media, creating a unique tourism product. Mr. Le Xuan Thanh, Director of the Digital Content and Communication Center – Vietnam News Agency (VNA), stated that the free promotion program for VNA newspapers on the train ran from September 15th to December 31st. The information products featured on the train are all strategic products of VNA. Introducing these products on the train also helps promote VNA's publications to a wider audience and will be disseminated through various information channels via this tourist train.
Mr. Tao Duc Hiep, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BHL Tourism and Trade Service Joint Stock Company, the unit coordinating with the Vietnam News Agency to implement this model, said: “The Vietnam News Agency is a government information agency, so bringing official press publications to passengers will help them grasp the socio-economic situation quickly and accurately. We believe this is an important advantage that will make the train trip popular with many people.”
Behind the free newspapers lies a message of connection between the past and the present, between traditional values and innovative creativity. Trains, a mode of transportation that has been a part of Hanoi for over a century, have been given a new look, serving both as a cultural space and a platform for disseminating information. These newspapers on the train have become a bridge connecting passengers to the flow of current events, so that each journey is not just a trip, but also a journey of knowledge.
