An Giang has a long border, and the lives of ethnic minorities and poor households in border areas are still fraught with difficulties. Understanding this, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department has determined that mass mobilization work must begin with addressing the practical needs of the people. The "Houses of Solidarity for Mass Mobilization" have been built one after another, demonstrating the strength of national unity and fostering trust in the Party through practical actions.
In the joyful anticipation of the upcoming Lunar New Year, what could be more wonderful than the realization of the dream of a complete home to protect families from rain and sun for many particularly disadvantaged households, policy beneficiary families, and ethnic minority communities? Specifically, 20 "People's Solidarity" houses have been handed over in Giang Thanh, Tri Ton, Tan Hoi communes and Tinh Bien ward. Each locality was allocated 5 houses, with construction costs ranging from 35 to 60 million VND per house.
Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Nguyen Huu Ngoc, affirmed that each house handed over is a bridge connecting the people's trust with the Party and the State. A special feature of the program is the harmonious coordination between the political system and the Central Executive Board of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church. "We hope that, with stable housing, the families will carefully maintain and preserve their homes, and strive to overcome poverty sustainably," Mr. Nguyen Huu Ngoc urged.
In Tan Hoi commune, for each house costing 50 million VND, the PGHH Church contributes 40 million VND; in Giang Thanh commune, this figure is flexible depending on the sharing between the PGHH Church and the local poverty alleviation fund. This "matching" creates a responsible community. Local authorities closely monitor the beneficiaries, religious organizations mobilize resources, and families contribute together to build more decent homes. Mr. Le Ngoc Loi - Vice Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the PGHH Church - shared his heartfelt thoughts about the "rapid" house construction journey: "We have a team of over 250 volunteers. The prefabricated house frames are assembled professionally, quickly, and efficiently, ensuring quality and providing people with sturdy homes to celebrate Tet together."
Behind each "People's Solidarity" house lies a touching life story. Ms. Truong Bich Phuong (born in 1971), residing in Tri Ton commune, earns a living selling lottery tickets. She couldn't hold back her tears when standing in her new house. She said that her old house had a low foundation and flooded whenever it rained. She and her children always longed for a new house so they wouldn't have to worry about stormy days anymore. Similarly, Mr. Vo Van Hieu (born in 1958), residing in Tri Ton commune, used to go up and down Cam Mountain every day to collect dry firewood to support his wife who suffered a stroke. Now they can sleep soundly and work peacefully after receiving their new house.
In a warm and heartfelt atmosphere, the family of Ms. Thi Phay (born in 2001), residing in Giang Thanh commune, received the decision to hand over their "People's Solidarity" house. Previously, the young couple's life was filled with worries and hardships. She stayed home as a housewife, taking care of their young children, while the family's main income depended solely on her husband's precarious odd jobs. With a meager income ranging from 600,000 to 1 million VND per month, the family dared not dream of a sturdy house.
The house of Ms. Phay and her husband has an area of 32 square meters , with a total construction cost of 60 million VND; of which, the Central Executive Board of the PGHH Church supported 30 million VND per house, and the fund for the poor in Giang Thanh commune supported 30 million VND per house. This is a strong motivation for the couple to work with peace of mind, strive to stabilize their lives, and raise their children better.
The handover of new houses is only the first step. To ensure sustainable poverty alleviation for the people, Party committees and local authorities need to continue to closely monitor, support livelihoods, provide vocational training, and create conditions for people to access preferential loan capital. "People-centered solidarity" must be a continuous flow and truly spread, crystallizing into firm trust in the hearts of the people.
