Clear movement after merger

Following the initial steps, the positive impact of the merger process is increasingly evident in the operational practices and overall development picture of the province. Quang Tri is gradually affirming its ability to adapt quickly and its systematic approach, progressively forming a stable, sustainable, and promising development space.

In 2025, key indicators such as GRDP growth, local budget revenue, and per capita income all met and exceeded targets, which is particularly significant given the challenging beginnings of the operational phase. Furthermore, key projects were implemented on schedule, and many new projects were launched, commenced, completed, and put into operation, creating important momentum for development.

In just a short time since their merger, Quang Tri has been steadily moving closer to its goal of becoming the energy hub of Central Vietnam and the entire country. Clean, renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power continue to be prioritized, alongside large-scale gas-fired power projects that are being rapidly implemented. Many difficulties and obstacles have been overcome, contributing to the acceleration of project progress, meeting local development needs and ensuring national energy security.

Along with energy, tourism has been infused with additional resources, expanding its development space and leveraging its strengths in ecology, history, spirituality, and culture with many distinctive, profound, and competitive products. Tourism growth not only reflects the industry's dynamism but also affirms the correctness of its management, enhancing Quang Tri's position as a safe, friendly, and distinctive destination that attracts both domestic and international tourists.

In infrastructure investment, many transportation, tourism, and industrial projects have been prioritized in terms of resources, accelerating progress and gradually completing a synchronous and modern infrastructure system to meet the development requirements of the province after the merger.

Airports, seaports, accommodation systems, industrial zones, and major transportation routes are shaping a new face for Quang Tri, creating a vast and seamlessly connected development space. In particular, the Gianh Bridge expansion project officially opened to traffic in early spring 2026, becoming a vivid symbol of the province's determination to act and its aspiration for breakthroughs in this new development environment.

The impetus from tourism and the investment environment.
In 2025, Quang Tri province is expected to welcome nearly 10 million tourists, an impressive growth rate compared to the same period. The province has approved the investment policy for 172 domestic projects with a total capital of over 113,400 billion VND; and attracted 7 newly licensed FDI projects with a total registered capital of over 622 million USD, nearly six times higher than in 2024. The Provincial People's Committee has approved 11 urban area and social housing projects with a total capital of over 51,600 billion VND.

Quang Tri is one of the localities that achieved its goals early in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, with nearly 13,500 houses completed, providing stable homes for poor households and families entitled to preferential policies, contributing to realizing the goal of "leaving no one behind". From the end of 2025 to the beginning of 2026, the province will continue to promote social housing projects, supplement the housing fund for low-income people, gradually ensuring stable living conditions and promoting sustainable urban development.

The two-tiered local government model is becoming increasingly effective, with the commune level being more proactive, flexible, closer to the people, and able to promptly address issues at the grassroots level, meeting the requirements of local governance in the new era. Digital transformation is becoming more substantive, gradually becoming an important driving force in improving the operational efficiency of the government apparatus.

The achievements stem from the high political determination, solidarity, and aspiration for progress of the entire Party, the people, and the entire political system, in which Party building and the development of the cadre play a key role. These results not only create a foundation for stable development but also strengthen confidence, increase consensus among the people, and further affirm the correctness of the policy of merging administrative units.

Realizing aspirations

Building upon the achievements of 2025, coupled with the new resolutions set forth at the First Congress of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, and especially the strong impetus from the 14th National Congress of the Party, Quang Tri stands before a great opportunity to create breakthroughs, improve the quality of growth, fulfill the goals and tasks of 2026, and create a solid foundation for the entire term.

Speaking at the conference on implementing tasks for 2026, Comrade Nguyen Van Phuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, quoted General Secretary To Lam: "This is a very important year, shaping the development model and long-term growth trajectory of the country. The target of GDP growth of 10% or more is very challenging."

In that spirit, the Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that Quang Tri must strive to effectively implement the Government's action motto for 2026: "Discipline and responsibility; proactive and effective; innovation and creativity; accelerated breakthroughs; sustainable growth."

The 14th National Congress of the Party clearly outlined strategic decisions for the country, including Quang Tri, to concretize its development aspirations in the new context; especially emphasizing the viewpoint that "the people are the foundation," the highest measure of all decisions, along with the motto for implementation: "Speak less - do more - do it to the end."

As a congress of faith and aspirations, of breakthroughs and action, of discipline and creativity, of unity and development, the 14th National Congress of the Party affirmed its determination to "make every year, every month, every day after the congress have concrete results and substantive changes; so that the people see, believe, support, accompany, and benefit."

The above viewpoints, policies, and decisions serve as a guiding principle for Quang Tri to confidently implement the goals and tasks for 2026 and the entire 2025-2030 term, aiming for sustainable development and improving the lives and happiness of the people. Based on the Resolution of the First Provincial Party Congress and the initial achievements after the merger, the province will focus on implementing the growth scenario for 2026 and the 2025-2030 period with key, breakthrough, feasible, and effective tasks and solutions.

The numbers speak for themselves.
In its first year after consolidation, Quang Tri province achieved concrete results, laying an important foundation for the new term. State budget revenue in the province reached nearly 13,400 billion VND, far exceeding the projected target. Along with that, total social investment reached 70,100 billion VND, surpassing the set plan; GRDP per capita reached 79.1 million VND, clearly reflecting the positive movements of the economy and the improvement of people's lives.

Along with the continued development of tourism as a key economic sector, industry is identified as the main driving force of economic growth. The focus of socio-economic development is to gradually build Quang Tri into a new energy center and a new tourism center of the country. The implementation process is carried out synchronously with creating a transparent, favorable investment environment for businesses; at the same time, resolutely overcoming the wasteful use of land resources and public assets.

To realize the goal of double-digit growth, the province has identified promoting data development and the data economy, linked with breakthroughs and comprehensive reforms, as a key solution. Alongside this, it will continue to streamline the political system's organizational structure to be lean, efficient, and effective; enhance the accountability of leaders; and address obstacles in the operation of the two-tiered local government model, in line with the directive of General Secretary To Lam: 2026 will be the year to improve the quality of grassroots officials. Based on this foundation, Quang Tri will focus on ensuring social security, caring for the lives of the people, especially vulnerable groups, and aiming for harmonious and sustainable development.

With a tradition of unity, self-reliance, and a strong aspiration for progress, the Party Committee, government, and people of Quang Tri are working together with determination to transform policies and resolutions into concrete results in practice. This is the solid foundation for Quang Tri to confidently enter 2026 and the new term, aiming for rapid and sustainable development for the happiness of its people.
