Quang Ninh commune currently has 2,469 hectares of rice cultivation area. However, the rice grown in Vinh Tuy village produces grains that are significantly more sticky, delicious, and fragrant. Explaining the superior quality of the rice from this area, Mr. Do Van Nam, Chairman and Director of Vinh Trung Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: This area is blessed by nature with fertile soil and clean freshwater sources. Perhaps that is why this place produces sticky, fragrant rice grains that are favored by many people.
"Good news travels fast," and Vinh Tuy rice became sought after by people both within and outside the commune, gradually building a reputation, especially with the introduction of new rice varieties such as HT1, Huong Thom, and P6. The number of customers increased, and the market expanded to provinces and cities nationwide.
To meet the growing consumer demand and build the Vinh Tuy rice brand, with the support of the government, the Vinh Trung Agricultural Service Cooperative has invested in machinery, packaging design, and product labeling. The journey to developing clean Vinh Tuy rice has also been a long one. To achieve delicious, sticky rice and establish a brand with consumers, the locality has conducted numerous experiments and selected suitable rice varieties.

According to Do Muoi, Chief of the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Commune: Seeing that consumers prefer Vinh Tuy rice, the commune chose this product to develop as an OCOP product. In 2019, the Vinh Tuy rice production model was put into operation by the Vinh Trung Agricultural Service Cooperative. Initially, the cooperative mainly produced rice on a trial basis using manual methods, without a modern processing line, and the raw material area was only about 10 hectares, so it faced many difficulties in organizing production and consumption.
Recognizing this as one of the locality's key products, the commune has created all the necessary conditions and provided support in terms of machinery and cultivation area to help the cooperative improve its production line and expand its production area. In 2021, Vinh Tuy rice was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. Although already recognized, in order to find delicious rice varieties suitable for the local soil and climate conditions, the Vinh Trung Cooperative continues to explore and research to introduce into production specialty rice varieties that are fragrant, delicious, and high-yielding.
Initially, Vinh Trung Cooperative chose the P6 rice variety for production. Although this is a delicious and high-yielding variety, it gradually degenerated over many years of cultivation. The cooperative continued to research and introduce other rice varieties, but these only worked for a few seasons before yields declined. After experimenting with new rice varieties, the cooperative is currently maintaining production of key varieties such as HT1, TBR97, and QC03. These are high-yielding varieties with sticky, delicious rice grains and a rich, flavorful taste, favored by consumers.
Besides its delicious rice variety, what makes Vinh Tuy rice so popular and trusted by customers is its farming practices. With the goal of producing fragrant, delicious, and "clean" rice for consumers, the Vinh Trung Agricultural Service Cooperative has chosen the SRI (System of Rice Intensification) farming method. This is an environmentally friendly farming method that prioritizes the use of manure, organic microbial fertilizers, and limits the use of chemical fertilizers.
The rice is of high quality and clean, resulting in relatively large sales volumes each year. To meet customer demand, the cooperative has expanded its cultivation area from an initial 10 hectares to nearly 100 hectares. On average, the Vinh Trung Agricultural Service Cooperative supplies 20 tons of clean Vinh Tuy rice to the market annually, reaching a peak of 30 tons. The entire rice cultivation area follows the SRI (System of Rice Intensification) process, ensuring the standards for the Vinh Tuy clean rice brand.
According to Pham Trung Dong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Quang Ninh commune, Vinh Tuy rice is one of the local OCOP (One Commune One Product) products highly appreciated by consumers for its quality. To help the product develop, the commune government recently provided funding to the cooperative to invest in building a warehouse system, milling machines, packaging machines, and many other modern machines and equipment, with a total value of approximately 1.2 billion VND. Thanks to the modern machinery, the Vinh Tuy clean rice production model is increasingly perfecting its processing and packaging processes. In the future, the government and the cooperative will continue to improve product designs, select high-quality and suitable rice varieties to create more fragrant and sticky rice grains, so that the Vinh Tuy clean rice brand can affirm its trust and position in the market.
