In 2026, Kien Giang University will enroll and train students in five new majors: Artificial Intelligence, Construction Management, Restaurant and Food Service Management, Natural Science Education, and Veterinary Medicine; bringing the total number of majors offered by the university to 30. These majors all play a crucial role in providing high-quality human resources to serve socio -economic development and create sustainable career opportunities for graduates.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs and Entrepreneurship Department at Kien Giang University, with 30 majors, Kien Giang University will recruit a total of 3,340 students in 2026; including 2,230 for regular undergraduate programs, 410 for part-time programs, and 700 for distance learning programs. Kien Giang University applies diverse admission methods. These include four methods: admission based on high school academic results (average grade for the entire 12th grade year according to the subject combinations announced by the university), admission based on the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam (according to the subject combinations announced by the university); direct admission and priority admission according to the university's plan; and admission based on the results of the 2026 National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test for all admission methods. Specifically, the method of considering V-SAT exam scores in 2026, organized by training institutions in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training, applies to all forms of admission except for teacher training programs. The method of considering results from vocational, college, and university studies does not apply to regular university admissions.
This year, Kien Giang College is recruiting students for 24 college-level programs and 17 vocational programs in various fields. Among them, tourism and travel service management is a key international-level program; mechanical engineering, automotive technology, construction engineering, and electrical and electronic engineering are key ASEAN-level programs. For college-level programs, Kien Giang College considers applications based on academic transcripts using a combination of three subjects: mathematics, Vietnamese language and literature, and one other subject, or the average grade for the entire 11th grade and the first semester of the 12th grade, or the average grade for the entire 12th grade. For vocational programs, the college considers the average grade for the entire 9th grade in any combination of three subjects, including mathematics or Vietnamese language and literature.
An Giang Vocational College 1 has 6 campuses located in Rach Gia ward, Phu Quoc special economic zone, and the communes of Long Thanh, Tan Hiep, Vinh Hoa, and Kien Luong. According to Mr. Luu Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Principal of An Giang Vocational College 1, this year the school is reviewing and reorganizing its training programs to ensure they closely align with the human resource needs for socio-economic development, the demands of the labor market, and the school's development strategy, while also leveraging the strengths of each campus in training. Accordingly, the school is enrolling students in 33 vocational programs across 8 groups: Engineering, mechanics, construction; electrical engineering, electronics, refrigeration; information technology, computer networks; tourism, restaurants, hotels; agriculture, fisheries, veterinary medicine; culinary arts, food services; economics, management, law; healthcare, services.
As usual, training institutions in the province are proactively reaching out to junior and senior high schools, intensifying enrollment counseling through diverse methods. Besides organizing delegations of officials to visit schools to meet and advise students directly, and holding enrollment fairs to provide opportunities for junior and senior high school students to visit schools, experience, and learn about training programs, schools are also strengthening online enrollment counseling, making the most of the advantages of social media. According to Master Nguyen Minh Tuan, “By March 18, 2026, Kien Giang University will organize admissions counseling at 180 high schools inside and outside the province. In this counseling session, the university will focus on disseminating the university's 2026 admissions guidelines; new points in the 2026 admissions regulations; the actual counseling, registration, and selection process; and preferential policies for students… The university will also create Zalo groups to promptly provide information, answer questions, and support students in choosing suitable majors.”
Besides implementing the regulations and policies stipulated by the State, schools also implement various policies for certain groups of students, such as tuition fee reductions; dormitory fee waivers or reductions; and scholarships, to create favorable conditions for students' studies. Students should proactively participate in the admissions counseling programs and activities of educational institutions to promptly access, understand, and proactively research information to choose schools and majors that match their academic abilities, strengths, family circumstances, and the needs of the labor market.
