Prosecution initiated against group for stealing property from tourists.

On October 4th, information from the Criminal Investigation Agency of Chi Linh City Police (Hai Duong province) indicated that the unit had issued decisions to initiate criminal proceedings in three cases, indicting and temporarily detaining three suspects for theft of property from tourists visiting historical sites, tourist attractions, and entertainment venues in the area.

The three defendants charged by the Chi Linh City Police Investigation Agency are: Le Thi Tuan (79 years old, residing in Phu Van commune, Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province); Nguyen Thi Huong (47 years old, residing in Nam Phong commune, Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province); and Nguyen Thi Lien (51 years old, residing in Lam Son ward, Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province).

Of these three defendants, Le Thi Tuan has 13 prior convictions for theft and receiving stolen property. The other two defendants also have prior convictions for theft.

At the police station, all three suspects confessed that, knowing that Chi Linh City was organizing many cultural activities at that time, they took a bus to Hanoi , and then continued by bus from Hanoi back to Chi Linh City.

Here, the defendants constantly moved through different locations, taking advantage of crowded places and the carelessness, negligence, and lack of vigilance of people to pickpocket and steal property. The property stolen by these defendants included cash and two mobile phones with a total value of over 40 million VND.

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Chi Linh City Police is continuing to investigate and clarify the cases in order to handle them according to regulations.
