According to British media, Grealish was diagnosed with an overuse fracture, a much more serious injury than initially anticipated.
Grealish played the full 90 minutes in Everton's 1-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend. However, after returning to training earlier this week, he is believed to have suffered a calf problem.
Further in-depth examinations revealed the actual injury was in his foot, forcing the 30-year-old player to consult with specialists.
Manager David Moyes admitted that Everton's medical team are concerned about Grealish's injury. The English midfielder has not yet set a specific date for his return.
Meanwhile, manager Moyes confirmed that Grealish and the club are considering surgery. If he has to undergo surgery, Grealish's season will almost certainly be over, extinguishing any hope of being recalled to the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Grealish's absence will be a major blow for Everton, especially given the team's injury woes. Since joining Everton last summer, the former Aston Villa star has quickly become a key player in manager Moyes' system. He has started 18 of 22 Premier League games, contributing two goals and six assists.
Speaking ahead of the match against Leeds, manager Moyes expressed his regret: “It’s really sad for him. Jack was enjoying football again, doing what he does best and was loved by Everton fans. It’s unfortunate that he will have to be out for a while.”
