On April 23, the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province held a meeting to provide information to agencies and the press about the exhibition of images and documents about the history of Kien Giang province.
Accordingly, the exhibition theme is "History of formation and development of Kien Giang province through images and archival documents" with 300 typical images and documents of value reflecting typical and important events in history being preserved at the National Archives Center, under the Department of State Records and Archives (Ministry of Home Affairs), the Kien Giang Provincial Historical Archives Center and relevant agencies, units and localities regarding the source of documents.
The exhibition is expected to take place for 7 days (from April 28 to May 4) at the Bang Bien Phu Melaleuca Forest War Remnants Area and the Temple of Heroes and Martyrs, Meritorious People of Vinh Thuan District.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province Huynh Xuan Luat, the layout of the exhibition of images and documents about the history of the formation and development of the province includes 3 main parts: Ancient Ha Tien Town (under the Nguyen Dynasty before 1900), introducing typical images and documents about the land of Ha Tien from the time of opening the land to before being colonized by French colonialists;
The heroic land of the southern region (from 1900 to 1975), introduces images and documents of Ha Tien and Rach Gia provinces under French colonial rule and the resistance war against America to save the country;
Kien Giang in 50 years of national reunification (from 1975 to present) with the victory of April 30, 1975, socio-economic achievements from 1975 to present, along with breakthrough changes of Kien Giang province.

In addition, according to Mr. Huynh Xuan Luat, the Organizing Committee also dedicated a section to display typical images and documents of Vinh Thuan district over 60 years of establishment and development.

“The exhibition of images and documents about the history of Kien Giang province this time aims to introduce an overview and outline of valuable images and documents from the land reclamation period to the present to all classes of people, through the form of presenting images and archival documents for people to know and learn.
Through the exhibition, we also aim to preserve national cultural identity, educate historical traditions for generations and contribute to firmly protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In addition, this is also an opportunity to add valuable historical images and documents to the Kien Giang Provincial Historical Archives Center to serve the exploitation, use, research and learning from images and archival documents" - Mr. Huynh Xuan Luat added.
