With an area of over 90km² and nearly 49,000 inhabitants, Kim Long is a ward with a relatively large natural area. Not only is it a sacred land along the Perfume River, Kim Long is also home to a large system of heritage sites, including 16 historical relics, of which 6 are national-level relics such as the Gia Long Mausoleum, Minh Mang Mausoleum, Van Thanh Temple, Thien Mu Pagoda, etc.; along with 14 village communal houses, many ancient temples, and heritage garden houses in the Phu Mong - Kim Long area.
According to Hoang Phuoc Nhat, Secretary of the Kim Long Ward Party Committee, building on that foundation, during the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee and people of Kim Long Ward successfully implemented 11 out of 14 targets set in the resolution. In addition, many key projects of the city have been and are being implemented in the area, such as: expanding the Kim Long and Van Xuan bridges, Nguyen Hoang road, Ring Road 3, and the embankment to prevent landslides along the Bach Yen River... contributing to improving the infrastructure for the ward's development.
From an ancient land steeped in cultural heritage, Kim Long has gradually transformed into a dynamic and civilized urban area. Most of the alleyways and streets in the area have been concreted through the "State and People working together" method, creating a modern appearance, promoting the development of services and tourism , and attracting visitors.
Besides investing in infrastructure, the ward also pays special attention to developing tourism associated with heritage preservation. The formation of community tourism tours, spiritual tourism, and resort tourism at historical sites, gardens, village communal houses, and natural landscapes such as the Perfume River, Kim Phung Mountain, Huyen Khong Son Thuong, and the Ve Nguon ecological tourist area... is gradually making Kim Long an attractive destination in Hue .
To date, the locality has completed the plan to reorganize the administrative apparatus after the merger, laying a solid foundation and creating new momentum and strength for continued rapid and sustainable development.
Entering the 2025-2030 term, Kim Long ward has set a comprehensive development vision, clearly identifying 5 key programs and 5 breakthroughs. Notably, these include the development of a synchronous and modern urban infrastructure; tourism and services linked to cultural heritage; administrative reform linked to digital transformation; and the construction of schools meeting national standards.
Hoang Phuoc Nhat, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hoang Phuoc Ward, shared that the current central task is to maximize the advantages of heritage and traditional culture to transform them into sustainable economic drivers. "We have determined that if we do not boldly innovate, change our management thinking, and act decisively, we will miss the golden development opportunities that the times offer," Mr. Nhat said.
In fact, the ward has been actively promoting large-scale projects: the Kim Long and Huong An new urban areas, the Long Ho 1-2 urban area, the Khe Ngang Lake cultural tourism area, the Long Ho golf course project, the Hue Spirit Sanctuary resort... At the same time, it is accelerating land clearance for key projects such as the expansion of Nguyen Hoang Street, Ring Road 3, urban areas, and rest stops on both sides of Tuan Station road…
According to Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Sy Toan Ward: Kim Long is prioritizing economic development based on the structure of "Tourism - services - trade; small-scale handicrafts - agriculture". The ward encourages residents to develop garden tourism and community tourism in traditional craft villages such as Kim Long cake and jam making, Luu Bao rice paper making, and eco-tourism areas like Kim Phung Mountain and Hon Vuon...
Alongside this is a strong digital transformation strategy: developing digital government and the digital economy, promoting online public services to improve the efficiency of management, administration, and service to the people; and building a smart, safe, and convenient living environment.
In the field of education, Kim Long aims to have 80-90% of its schools meet national standards by 2030. Regarding social welfare, the ward strives to eliminate poverty; achieve an average per capita income of 5,500-6,000 USD/year; ensure 99.8% of residents participate in health insurance, and over 30% of the workforce participates in social insurance.
“Besides investment programs, Kim Long focuses on preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Hue – which makes this region a ‘brand.’ The moral values, family traditions, etiquette, love of learning, and hospitality of the people of Kim Long are considered important foundations for building a civilized urban lifestyle and developing well-rounded individuals,” emphasized Hoang Phuoc Nhat, Secretary of the Party Committee of the ward.
Kim Long also demonstrates strong political determination in Party building and strengthening the political system. For the next term, the ward aims to recruit 36-40 new Party members per year; and ensure that 80% of Party organizations, members, and the Party Committee successfully complete their tasks or better.
Proud of its rich history, strong heritage, and revolutionary traditions, Kim Long today is striving to move forward, seizing every opportunity, exploiting every resource, embracing challenges, and working towards becoming one of the bright spots in sustainable urban, cultural, and tourism development in Hue city.
