(kontumtv.vn) – Along with coffee, rubber, and medicinal plants, macadamia trees have been identified by Kon Rẫy district as having development potential . To date, the locality has planted more than 535 hectares of macadamia trees, concentrated in the communes of Đăk Ruồng, Đăk Tơ Lung, and Đăk Pne.
Over the years, macadamia trees have been assessed as quite suitable to the local weather and soil conditions, resulting in good growth and development; some areas have already yielded harvests, with an average yield of 6-8 tons of fresh fruit/ha/year, an average selling price of 40,000-50,000 VND/kg, providing a stable income of 100-150 million VND/ha/year.
To effectively implement the provincial plan, in 2025, Kon Rẫy district aims to develop 50 hectares of macadamia trees, focusing on concentrated planting in communes and towns with advantages and suitability for macadamia cultivation. Simultaneously, it will develop policies to support macadamia development, integrating them into the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction; and promote the safe and sustainable development of macadamia cultivation, minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and growth regulators.
