What is the special interest rate?

According toACB 's new interest rate schedule, for deposits under 200 million VND, terms of 1, 2, 3 months are 3.4%, 3.5%, 3.6%/year respectively, down 0.1 percentage point compared to yesterday.

Notably, the 6-month term decreased from 5% to 4.6%/year. The 9-month term decreased from 5.1% to 4.65%/year and the 12-month term decreased from 5.5% to 4.7%/year.

ACB adds 0.1 percentage point for each different deposit level such as from 200 million VND to under 1 billion VND, from 1-5 billion VND and from 5 billion VND or more.

With the above progressive interest rate calculation, the highest interest rate at ACB is 4.9%/year for a 12-month term if the customer deposits 5 billion VND or more.

ACB is the bank that pays the lowest interest rate in the market for 6-month and 12-month terms. Interest rates for the remaining terms are also almost the lowest in the market.

However, ACB also applies a special interest rate for a 13-month term for VIP customers depositing VND200 billion or more at 6.5%/year (receive interest at the end of the term) and 6.25%/year (receive interest monthly).

Besides ACB, some banks also apply this policy to attract "super VIP" customers.

HDBank is applying interest rates at the counter, 12-month and 13-month terms of 8.2%/year and 8.6%/year respectively for deposits of at least VND300 billion or more.

MSB Bank is also paying over-the-counter interest rates of up to 9%/year for 12- and 13-month term deposits with a minimum deposit amount of VND500 billion or more.

Also today, Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Bac A Bank ) reduced 0.1 percentage point of interest rate for 1-5 month term deposits, reduced 0.2 percentage point of interest rate for 6-13 month term deposits, and reduced 0.15 percentage point of interest rate for 15-36 month term deposits.

Accordingly, the 1-5 month term is 4.35%/year; the 6-8 month term is 5.4%/year, the 9-11 month term is 5.5%/year and the 12-13 month term is 5.6%/year.

For 15-month term deposits, interest rates dropped to 5.65%/year, while 18-36 month terms dropped to 5.95%/year.

Thus, after this adjustment, there is no longer any deposit term at Bac A Bank listed above 6%/year.

Kien Long Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Kien Long Bank) also lowered the interest rate for long-term deposits from 18 to 24 months. With a reduction of 0.2 percentage points, the interest rate for these terms has dropped to 6.2%/year.

KienLongBank keeps the interest rates unchanged for the remaining terms. The interest rate for 1-2 month terms is 4.55%/year, and for 3 month terms is 4.75%/year.

Interest rates for 6-month, 9-month and 12-month terms are 5.4%/year, 5.6%/year and 5.7%/year respectively. Meanwhile, the interest rate for 15-month term is 5.8%/year.

Thus, since the beginning of November until now, 12 banks have reduced deposit interest rates: Sacombank, NCB, VIB, BaoVietBank, Nam A Bank, VPBank, VietBank, SHB, Techcombank, Bac A Bank, KienLongBank, ACB.
