Lam Dong has new Chairman of the People's Council and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee

Lam Dong province officially has a new Chairman of the People's Council and a new Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee after 8 months of vacancy in these two key positions.

On the morning of August 23, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council, term X (2021 - 2026) held its 17th session to resolve urgent matters within its authority (electing the Chairman of the People's Council and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee). Accordingly, the session elected Ms. Pham Thi Phuc, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, to hold the position of Chairwoman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council. Also at the session, delegates elected Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Thai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for the 2021 - 2026 term.

Ms. Pham Thi Phuc (47 years old, from Quang Ngai), grew up in the Youth Union movement and held the following positions: Member of the Central Youth Union Executive Committee, Member of the Central Youth Union Standing Committee, Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union (2009 - 2015); Secretary of Lam Ha District Party Committee; Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation; Deputy Head and then Head of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission. Professor, Dr. Tran Hong Thai (50 years old, from Ha Tinh), graduated from university in Russia, defended his doctoral thesis in earth sciences and mathematics at Heidelberg University (Germany). Mr. Thai used to work at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and held the position of Director General of the General Department of Hydrometeorology; in October 2023, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.

Earlier, on the same morning (August 23), Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee held a conference to implement the decision of the Central Party Secretariat on personnel work. The Secretariat has mobilized and appointed Mr. Tran Hong Thai to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. Thus, after 8 months of vacancy since Mr. Tran Duc Quan, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and Mr. Tran Van Hiep, former Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee were prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Ministry of Public Security for their involvement in the Dai Ninh project, Lam Dong has now officially had a new Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Also at the meeting, the delegates of Lam Dong Provincial People's Council unanimously dismissed Mr. Nguyen Khac Binh from the position of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; dismissed Ms. Duong Thi Nga from the position of Head of the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee, to transfer her to another job. The meeting elected Mr. Da Cat Vinh, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, to the position of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; elected Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the Bao Loc City People's Committee, to the position of Head of the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee.
