Expanding playgrounds for children during the summer
Recently, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health , the Provincial Youth Union, the Association for the Promotion of Learning, and the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Activities Center jointly organized the Launch Ceremony for the 2026 Action Month for Children and the Opening Ceremony of Summer Activities with the theme "Happy, Safe, and Steadfast Children in the Digital Age" at the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Activities Center - Facility 2 (Phu Thuy Ward).
The program awarded 20 scholarships and 300 gifts to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and organized games, experiential activities, and skill-building playgrounds for children. These activities contributed to creating a safe and healthy environment for children to play, helping them develop physically and socially during the summer.
Ms. Trinh Thi Loan, Director of the Provincial Youth Activities Center, said that this year's Action Month for Children is an opportunity for all levels, sectors, and society as a whole to continue affirming their concern and care for the protection, care, and education of children. It also aims to raise awareness about building a safe and healthy living environment for children's holistic development in the digital age.

During the summer, the center organizes more talent classes and experiential programs to create a safe and enriching environment for children.
Classes such as martial arts, swimming, art, music, and life skills, along with hands-on activities, help children develop their talents, improve their physical fitness, and equip them with essential life skills.
We want every child to have the opportunity to play, learn, and socialize in a healthy environment, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and injuries during the summer and contributing to their holistic development.

In particular, this summer, the center is coordinating the organization of a summer camp called "Learning to be a Police Officer" for children aged 9 to 14. The children will experience life as real junior police officers, practicing self-defense, fire prevention and control, drowning prevention, first aid, survival skills, teamwork, and traditional education.
Through this program, children are equipped with life skills, develop discipline, self-confidence, independence, and self-protection skills to have a safe and enriching summer.
Nguyen Minh Anh, from Lam Vien ward, Da Lat, happily shared: "I really enjoy participating in the summer talent classes at the center. Here, I can make many friends, have fun, and learn many useful skills."
Proactive risk prevention for children.

In addition to provincial-level activities, localities are also proactively organizing programs and skills training courses to equip young people with the knowledge to protect themselves.
In Quang Truc and Duc Lap communes, the local Youth Union organized a free summer self-defense skills course for young people. The children were instructed in basic self-defense skills, handling situations, improving reflexes, enhancing physical fitness, and building confidence, teamwork, and self-assurance.
According to Vu Hoang Huy, Secretary of the Duc Lap Commune Youth Union, along with the summer self-defense skills course, the Commune Youth Union will also organize many programs and activities to educate life skills, prevent drowning accidents, and care for young people so that they can have a safe, beneficial, and meaningful summer.

According to authorities, the majority of injuries and drowning accidents among children occur during the summer holidays when there is a lack of adult supervision or children are not adequately equipped with safety skills. Therefore, organizing skills classes, practical activities, and community playgrounds is becoming an important solution to prevent risks to children.
Recently, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued a document requesting departments, agencies, and localities to strengthen efforts to prevent injuries and drowning among children during the summer and rainy season.
In particular, units and localities should focus on raising awareness among families, schools, and communities; organizing safe summer activities; and creating conditions for children to learn swimming, accident prevention skills, and disaster response. Localities should strengthen the management and supervision of children during the summer, contributing to ensuring a safe living environment for them.
Summer is not only a time for children to rest and play, but also a time that requires the care and support of families, schools, and society as a whole. Expanding community playgrounds, skills classes, and experiential activities not only helps children have a productive summer but also contributes to protecting them from accidents and injuries, creating a foundation for their holistic development.
