Communes and wards respond to the Month of Action for Children.

(CT) - In response to the Month of Action for Children (June 2026), communes and wards in Can Tho City are implementing many activities to care for and support children.

The Party Committee and People's Committee of Phong Dien commune have just launched the 2026 Action Month for Children. The commune has over 8,300 children, including 2,147 under 6 years old and 49 children receiving regular social welfare benefits. To date, 100% of children under 6 years old have been issued health insurance cards and receive expanded immunization as prescribed; tuition fees have been waived and learning expenses subsidized for over 7,200 students, totaling more than 5.3 billion VND. During June 2026, all levels, departments, and organizations in the commune will focus on disseminating information and educating children on life skills; organizing safe and beneficial summer activities and recreation, contributing to building a safe and healthy living environment for all children's comprehensive development.

On this occasion, the Party Committee, People's Committee, People's Council, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune presented 49 gifts (500,000 VND each) to children in difficult circumstances.

The Women's Union and the Youth Union of Phuoc Thoi Ward, in coordination with Cluster No. 1 of the Youth Committee of the Can Tho City Police Department, recently organized a gift-giving event for disadvantaged children, combined with a campaign to raise awareness about drowning prevention, at Vo Thi Sau Primary School. The organizers presented 12 gifts (500,000 VND each), 1,000 notebooks, and 200 kg of rice to disadvantaged students, totaling 21 million VND.

The Youth Unions of Dai Hai and Thoi Hung communes have also recently launched free swimming classes for underprivileged children. 80 children from Dai Hai commune are participating, and 15 children from Thoi Hung commune are participating. Over the course of one month, the children will be taught basic swimming skills, equipped with knowledge about water safety, how to handle dangerous situations, and how to prevent drowning accidents.

The Phu Loi Ward Police and Youth Union recently organized a training session to raise awareness and improve skills in preventing social evils, rescue operations, and fire prevention and control among students in the ward. Over 950 teachers and students received basic knowledge and skills from ward police officers on preventing drowning, recognizing child abuse, and handling dangerous situations.
