Working together in unity

At the end of the 2026-2027 school year, teachers and students of Tran Quoc Toan Primary School simultaneously received certificates recognizing the school as having achieved Level 2 educational quality accreditation and Level 1 national standards. According to Ms. Huynh Thi Xuan Lan, the school's principal, the school has continuously improved the overall quality of its activities in the process of achieving national standards. In the past school year alone, 80.03% of students received awards, with 70.62% being outstanding students. The school's students won 118 city-level awards and 96 national-level awards; notably, they achieved one championship and three consolation prizes in the 2025 International Robothon competition held in Indonesia.

Ms. Le Thanh Thuy, parent of two students in classes 2A4 and 2A6 at Tran Quoc Toan Primary School, said: “I find the school, the resting places, and the meals for my children all good. Besides teaching, the school also teaches my children other necessary skills.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhanh, parent of Pham Nguyen Minh Ngoc, added: “My child participated in the school's ceremonial team in elementary school. She is now in 7th grade and is returning to perform at the end-of-year ceremony. While studying at Tran Quoc Toan Elementary School, she was able to develop her talents and learn many soft skills. When a school has qualified teachers, adequate facilities, and equipment, students are well-positioned to develop comprehensively and have the capacity to excel in higher levels of education.”

Over the past period, Tran Ngoc Hoang Secondary and High School has strived to achieve national standards. According to Mr. Le Van Dung, the school's principal, the school has met the criteria regarding student quality, teachers with qualified expertise, and facilities that ensure effective teaching and learning. Currently, the school has 69 staff members, teachers, and employees, all of whom meet the required training standards, with 20.8% exceeding them. The overall quality of education at the school has also improved, gradually meeting the national standards. "The entire school is striving to achieve national standards by 2027 as planned," Mr. Le Van Dung emphasized.

Identify the solution

By the end of 2025, the city will have 746 out of 1,149 public kindergartens and primary and secondary schools meeting national standards, achieving a rate of 64.93%. With its new status after the merger, Can Tho City has implemented Plan No. 154/KH-UBND, striving to have 970 out of 1,141 public kindergartens and primary and secondary schools meeting national standards by 2030, reaching a rate of 85.01% (an increase of 224 schools compared to December 31, 2025), including both Level 1 and Level 2; in particular, increasing the rate of schools meeting national standards at Level 2 to meet the target set in the Resolution of the First Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

To achieve the above goal, the city is finalizing the development plan for the school network; increasing investment in infrastructure and teaching equipment, focusing on strengthening and modernizing schools; prioritizing the allocation of public investment capital to strengthen 100% of classrooms, ensuring sufficient classrooms to organize two-session teaching per day according to the new general education program. At the same time, it is developing a qualified team of teachers and education administrators; and focusing on the comprehensive and decisive implementation of educational solutions oriented towards developing students' qualities and competencies.

The City People's Committee also directed departments and agencies to coordinate in mobilizing and effectively utilizing investment resources for education; to strengthen communication efforts and raise public awareness about building schools that meet national standards; and to enhance socialization and attract community participation to mobilize social resources for investment in education.
