TPO - Old loofah gourds, often discarded after each harvest season by farmers, are now becoming a valuable green resource. Loofah fibers are being "transformed" into unique handicraft products.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Tung (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province) and three young associates have jointly established a company. |
To secure raw materials, Mr. Tung's company collaborates with households in Buon Ma Thuot City and Krong Buk District, covering a total area of nearly 20 hectares. |
Mr. Tung's company has committed to buying gourds at a stable price of 5,000 VND per fruit. |
H'Wên Êban (born in 1998, Buon Ma Thuot City) and her husband have 1 hectare of land planted with loofah to supply raw materials. Each year, after deducting expenses, the couple earns a profit of over 250 million VND. |
On an area of over 3 hectares, Mr. Do Xuan Nhanh (born in 1987) and a friend have switched to growing loofah, supplying raw materials to Mr. Tung's company. Each year, this helps him and his friend earn nearly 300 million VND/hectare/year. |
Currently, the company provides stable employment for 14-15 young workers, mostly local youth, with salaries ranging from 3 to 6 million VND per month. |
| Currently, his company has three product lines: kitchenware, bathroom products, and fashion products. |
In addition, paintings created on loofah sponges have also been produced. |
High-end products have entered the global market, including France, and are being offered in many countries such as the USA, South Korea, Japan, etc. |
Through his products, Mr. Tung hopes to spread his love for nature and convey a message of environmental protection to everyone. |
| The loofah plant is opening up many opportunities for farmers in this red soil region to become wealthy. |
