On the morning of December 11th, a farewell ceremony for Qiong Yao was held in Taipei.

The family chose a photo of her wearing a red dress and smiling, surrounded by white flowers.

Film star Lin Xinru – one of the leading actresses in the drama " Princess Huanzhu" – wore a black outfit to attend the farewell ceremony for Qiong Yao. She wrote in the condolence book: "Dear Qiong Yao, you have achieved perfect enlightenment. May you find freedom and peace in the afterlife . I will always remember you."

In an interview, actress Lin Ching-hsia, with tears in her eyes, blamed herself: "I should have been there for her when she was going through the most difficult times." Su You-peng sang the theme song from the drama " New River of Separation" as a farewell to writer Qiong Yao.

Many actresses, such as Liu Xuehua, Zhao Wei, and Jiang Qinqin, sent flowers to pay their respects. In Hunan, China – the hometown of Qiong Yao – audiences held a memorial service for the writer. Fans gathered at her former residence, laying flowers in remembrance.

The female writer Qiong Yao, born in 1938, whose real name was Chen Zhe, emigrated to Taiwan with her family in 1949. She left behind more than 60 novels that have made a significant impact on the literary world and have been translated into many languages, including *Outside the River* , * The River of Separation* , * Snowy Village*, *The Deserted Village*, *Princess Pearl *, *Seagull Flying Across the Sea *, and many more.
