As usual, on the 26th of every month, the "0-VND vegetable shop" takes place at the Headquarters of Group 1, Tieu Can town. From early in the morning, everyone chooses vegetables, tubers and fruits, whoever likes them is free to choose. The special thing is that when coming to this vegetable shop, people do not have to spend money but get a lot of products to bring home. The model's spread has attracted many benefactors inside and outside the locality to participate, now it has become a meaningful mutual support activity of the Women's Union of Tieu Can town for disadvantaged people.
Ms. Tran Thi Kieu Oanh, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tieu Can town, said that along with the resources of the State, poor households and people in extremely difficult circumstances are also empowered through movements and models. by sectors, organizations, charity groups and communities. With the model "Vegetable Shop for 0 VND", was established in March 3, with 2023 members participating. All members are enthusiastic and responsible, on the 30th of every month, the sisters mobilize and collect vegetables, tubers and fruits from small businesses in the town that promise to give, or go to receive money from benefactors to support. Before that to buy vegetables, tubers and fruits, getting ready for tomorrow's "vegetable shop" at the headquarters.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hau, living in Dai Mong hamlet, Phu Can commune, who came to receive vegetables and tubers at the shop, shared: "My family has only 02 husband and wife, my wife has heart disease, her vision is blurry, she can't see the road, she just hangs around the house every day. I sell lottery tickets to make a living, life is also very difficult, so thanks to this support, my wife and I are very happy."
The "0-dong vegetable shop" is met with the heart and love of both the seller and the buyer. When going to the shop, people can buy vegetables and cabbage for 0 dong. No one told anyone, sisters, brothers and sisters who were free from work or households near the headquarters immediately came to lend a hand, sometimes even contributing more vegetables and fruits in the garden. Depending on the support of benefactors, there are days when the green leafy vegetables in the yard are full, some days are full of tomatoes, okra... fresh and delicious. All are distributed to poor households, families in difficult circumstances, the times when benefactors donate more rice, necessities ... people come to receive the gift "0 dong" more happy and heartwarming.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy, Head of the Women's Association of Hamlet 1, Tieu Can town, said that the model has been implemented four times so far, attracting a large number of members and households to participate. People with vegetables support vegetables, people with money support money, depending on the heart of each person. The exciting thing is that for members, sharing and helping poor households and disadvantaged people is no longer strange and surprising, so when campaigning, the sisters are always willing.
Up to now, the model has mobilized female members and sponsors to contribute more than 200kg of vegetables of all kinds, 50kg of rice, necessities and cash, with a total value of nearly 10 million VND. Through the model, 60 turns of poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households have been supported…with an expenditure of over VND08 million.
Ms. Tran Chi Khanh, a sponsor, living in Hamlet 1, Tieu Can town, confided: I think the model is very meaningful, instead of distributing vegetarian rice for charity, the sisters gave vegetables and spices, who could mobilize what for that. The difficult period due to the Covid-19 epidemic has passed, but as a habit, when I see someone doing charity, I also want to send it, because the needs of many situations still need support. Every month, I support money, have a month to buy more vegetables and tubers to support the shop.
Coming to receive vegetables at the "0-dong vegetable shop", Ms. Nguyen Thi Gam, living in Hamlet 2, Tieu Can town shared: "My husband works as a housemaid, has been sick for more than 01 week, and I work as a hired worker from time to time. I haven't worked for a few days, so I don't have money to buy food. Today I received vegetables, meat, eggs, I was really happy and thanked the sisters and brothers for helping and supporting difficult situations like my family.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Kieu Oanh, by sharing her heart and deeply sympathizing with the poor, over the past time, the Town Women's Union has implemented many models such as: Loving kitchen, rice support, helping business capital. , building a house of great solidarity...helping members step by step improve their lives.
In 2023, closely following the local political tasks, the Town Women's Union continued to deploy many effective activities and models, in line with the interests and aspirations of women, and were actively responded to by women. join. The association continues to sponsor 03 girls until the end of school. Maintaining 16 clubs, models include: turning waste into money, saving villages, collecting capital to buy health insurance... with 228 members. Simultaneously, the Association registered with the Party committee to carry out 01 project, the part of mobilizing members to buy all kinds of insurance, the results of mobilizing 88 members to participate in voluntary social insurance. Up to now, the Association has mobilized 92 members to participate in health insurance, bringing the total to date to 646 members, reaching 92,6% and 88/907 members participating in voluntary social insurance, achieving 9,7%.
In addition, in 2023, the whole town currently has 07 poor households, 35 near-poor households. Right from the beginning of the year, the Association has supported 01 poor and 02 near-poor households to borrow loans with a total amount of 76 million VND, creating favorable conditions. to help households develop their economies and get out of poverty.
Along with that, in the first 06 months of the year, the Association mobilized sponsors to donate nearly 100 gifts to poor women and households with the amount of nearly 40 million VND. At the same time, the Association received help 01 disabled woman to get out of near poverty in many forms such as funding for building latrines, drawing clean water, giving gifts.
And there are many activities and models of sharing love with members and poor lives. This is a source of motivation to help many households overcome immediate difficulties, strive to rise up, no longer be a burden on families and society. Thereby, actively contributing to social security, sustainable poverty reduction, contributing to building Tieu Can town as a civilized and developed urban area.
