Imbued with the spirit of "respecting the people, being close to the people, and having the police available when the people need them," the Women's Association of the Economic Security Department of the Quang Ninh Provincial Police has effectively implemented the "Godmother" program in recent times.
The "Godmother" program, launched by the Vietnam Women's Union and given special attention and guidance by the Party Committee of the Central Public Security Department and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security , has been widely disseminated throughout the People's Public Security force.
In Quang Ninh, the Women's Association of the Economic Security Department has concretized the program into consistent action, viewing it not just as a simple charitable activity but as a political task, a "command from the heart" of each officer and member.
Understanding the disadvantages and losses faced by orphaned and impoverished children in remote, border, and island areas of the province, the Party Committee, leadership, and Women's Association of the Economic Security Department of the Quang Ninh Provincial Police proactively coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to review and connect with and sponsor children in particularly difficult circumstances.
From 2024 to the present, the unit has directly sponsored three children in Dam Ha commune: Ha Van Phong (born in 2012), Chiu Thi Nguyen (born in 2016), and Nguyen Bao Khoi (born in 2018).
Each sponsored child is a story of overcoming adversity. Ha Van Phong and Chiu Thi Nguyen, despite coming from extremely disadvantaged families and lacking adequate care, are both determined to succeed, well-behaved, and excellent students.
To ensure sustainable support, the Women's Association of the Economic Security Department has developed a long-term care plan. On a monthly basis, the members deduct funds from their salaries and association funds to provide living expenses for the children.
Through their caring and considerate gestures, the image of the People's Security officer is not only sharp and resolute in their professional work of fighting to protect economic security, but also incredibly approachable and compassionate in everyday life.
Above all, the program contributes to spreading positive values and building a strong foundation of public trust, so that every citizen and every child feels warmth and confidence when mentioning the People's Police force. The spread of love from the program has received recognition and high praise from the Party committee, government, and people of the locality.
Beyond just material support, during peak occasions like Lunar New Year, International Children's Day (June 1st), or the start of the new school year, these "Godmothers," dressed in police uniforms, personally travel long distances to visit and encourage the children in their homes.
The gifts—new clothes, textbooks still smelling of fresh ink, or brand-new bicycles—not only help the children overcome their feelings of inferiority but also ignite their faith, helping them understand that on their journey to adulthood, they will always have the warm embrace of the police officers by their side.
The "Godmother" program of the Women's Association of the Economic Security Department - Quang Ninh Provincial Police is a vivid example of the implementation of the "Three Best" emulation movement (most disciplined - most loyal - closest to the people) that the unit is currently carrying out.
