In late September, Quang Ngai province sent tens of tons of goods, including rice, fish sauce, salt, and other essential necessities, to people in the North affected by Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi). Many Red Cross volunteers enthusiastically participated in carrying and transporting this large quantity of goods, undeterred by the difficulties and hardships.

Deputy Team Leader of the Red Cross Volunteer Team in Tu Nghia District, Tran Thi To Loan, shared: "Over the past time, I and other Red Cross volunteers in Tu Nghia District have been mobilizing donations of used clothes to give to people in mountainous areas, calling for support for healthcare for disadvantaged people, and participating in distributing free porridge and meals at hospitals. As a volunteer, the first factor is being dynamic and having a love for Red Cross work and charitable activities. Besides that, it's about managing time to balance family, work, and Red Cross work. I believe that participating in Red Cross activities is my responsibility, to contribute and dedicate myself to society," Ms. Loan expressed.

Currently, in addition to the Provincial Red Cross Volunteer Team with 62 members, several localities in the province also have Red Cross Volunteer Teams, such as Son Tinh, Tu Nghia, Mo Duc, Ly Son districts, Duc Pho town, and Quang Ngai city. Among them, the Quang Ngai City Red Cross Volunteer Team is one of the exemplary volunteer teams, consistently maintaining many activities such as visiting, giving gifts, and providing moral and material support to those in difficult circumstances or suffering from serious illnesses; contributing significantly with their efforts and time to charitable activities.

In addition, the province has many "living blood bank" clubs that are always ready to donate blood to save patients in emergency situations. Examples include the Facebook Living Blood Bank Club of Quang Ngai, the "Call Me" Club in Tinh Son commune (Son Tinh district); clubs of the Provincial Police Youth Union, the Quang Ngai City Red Cross Volunteer Team, etc. The Provincial Red Cross also has members of the PSQ pickup truck team, ready to assist in transporting goods in emergency situations.

On January 21, 2019, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society issued Resolution No. 21/NQ-TƯHCTĐ on developing and improving the quality of Red Cross volunteer activities in the new situation. This resolution identifies Red Cross volunteers as an important component of the overall force of the entire society, playing an increasingly important role in organizing and implementing the society's tasks.

Recently, the Provincial Red Cross Society has conducted training for its members and volunteers on topics related to Red Cross activities, communication skills, resource mobilization skills, disaster prevention knowledge, and first aid skills.

Implementing the "Safety for Poor and Disadvantaged Fishermen" program launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Provincial Red Cross Society organized training courses for volunteers and fishermen in several coastal communes on disaster prevention measures and first aid skills for accidents and injuries at sea. They also disseminated knowledge of relevant laws regarding fishing activities at sea, ensuring the safety of fishermen during fishing operations; and promoted awareness against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. To equip volunteers with first aid knowledge and skills for victims of traffic accidents, the Provincial Red Cross Society conducted training for volunteers in communes and towns along national and provincial highways.

Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Pham Ngoc Thanh, emphasized that the Red Cross volunteer force has been and continues to be a core component in Red Cross and humanitarian activities. Continuing to strengthen, consolidate, and develop the Red Cross volunteer force is an important task for Red Cross societies at all levels. In addition, it is necessary to increase the number of training courses to improve skills, coupled with promoting the communication of humanitarian values to Red Cross volunteer teams, clubs, and charitable groups to positively spread the spirit of humanity and compassion in community life.
