Le Gia Food and Commercial Services Co., Ltd., located in Khuc Phu fish sauce village, Hoang Thanh commune, is developing traditional craft village tourism .
According to economic experts, merging administrative units and implementing a two-tiered local government system will create significant opportunities for the development of rural industries. With a larger market, rural crafts and industries, especially traditional crafts and high-tech agriculture, will have more opportunities to develop strongly in terms of scale, labor force, and consumer market.
As a long-standing traditional craft village, Tien Loc blacksmithing, now part of Trieu Loc commune, possesses unique cultural characteristics, representing the lifestyle and production practices of the local people. In recent years, along with the process of integration and development, the craft village has promoted the application of science and technology in production to increase labor productivity, bringing high economic efficiency to the people and enhancing the brand of its products. According to statistics, there are 5 enterprises directly involved in the craft and nearly 1,600 households participating in blacksmithing, attracting approximately 6,000 workers.
From July 1st, 2025, when the whole country merges administrative units and implements a two-tiered local government system, Tien Loc blacksmith village will be under the jurisdiction of Trieu Loc commune. With a larger administrative area, this will open up new opportunities for the craft village to develop both broadly and deeply. Mr. Nguyen Trong Hien, from Tien Loc blacksmith village, expects: "With a larger scale and a larger population, the domestic market for products from the craft village will expand. On the other hand, as trade connections between regions within the province improve, Tien Loc blacksmith village's products will easily access central areas and participate in more trade promotion events, thus increasing product sales."
Each craft village in Thanh Hoa province possesses its own unique identity, creating distinctive and exquisite products. Many of these products have become representative of their respective regions. While it might seem that coastal villages would thrive in fish sauce production, in the five coastal communes of the former Hoang Hoa district, only Hoang Phu (now Hoang Thanh commune) has a traditional fish sauce making craft with the renowned Khuc Phu brand. The people of Khuc Phu village are always proud of their special fish sauce. Currently, with a history of over 100 years, Khuc Phu fish sauce has become a specialty gift for relatives and friends throughout the country, and some products have been successfully exported to markets such as South Korea, Taiwan, South Africa, and Japan. Beyond exploiting the "resources" of the craft village, in the face of new opportunities, the people of Khuc Phu village have also collaborated to develop tourism. Mr. Le Anh, Director of Le Gia Food and Commercial Services Co., Ltd., Hoang Thanh commune, said: “Traditional craft villages provide tourism with unique cultural values and souvenir products that reflect local identity. Tourism, in turn, opens a path to bring traditional craft villages closer to domestic and international tourists, contributing to product consumption and creating additional livelihoods for local people. Therefore, from May 2024, the company has expanded its focus to tourism to promote traditional crafts within its modern factory, contributing to the promotion and dissemination of the finest aspects of production and culture of the coastal people of Thanh Hoa province to domestic and international tourists.”
The products from Tien Loc blacksmith village in Trieu Loc commune are popular in the market and highly appreciated for their quality.
In reality, the current communes and wards of Thanh Hoa province were formed by merging the existing administrative boundaries and people of many localities. Therefore, the intrinsic value of the local culture and traditional crafts has been enhanced. For example, Hoang Thanh commune was formed by merging the communes of Hoang Ngoc, Hoang Phu, Hoang Dong, and Hoang Thanh. The new commune after the merger has 17 OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, and the potential for connecting producers in the development of experiential tourism in the craft villages is enormous.
In reality, the formation of new administrative spaces has opened up great opportunities contributing to the preservation and development of traditional craft villages. However, craft villages in Thanh Hoa province are facing many "obstacles," such as: inconsistent infrastructure; difficult transportation; lack of warehousing and logistics connectivity... Therefore, it is expected that the two levels of local government will improve their management and operational capacity to overcome existing shortcomings. At the same time, they should focus on building cultural value chains for craft village products; support the improvement of production skills of workers in craft villages, especially digital transformation and innovation... so that each craft village has more opportunities for development in the new phase.
