Throughout her 27 years of service, nurse Vu Thi Dan (Emergency Department, Lak District Health Center) has experienced many different emotions in the special and noble profession of medicine. Ms. Dan shared that in 1998, after graduating from Ninh Binh Medical College, she left her parents and hometown to start a career in Dak Lak. At the age of twenty, the decision to leave her village was not easy, but driven by her love for the profession, she overcame the geographical barriers and has remained dedicated to her work and the legendary land by Lak Lake until now.

Like other nurses, Ms. Dan's daily work includes: directly caring for and encouraging patients, guiding patients on how to take care of themselves to recover quickly; applying clinical skills, monitoring the progress of patients; operating and maintaining medical equipment in the department according to doctors' orders…
At first glance, the job seems simple, but for the women in the medical field, it's a whole process of balancing work and family life. She recounted that when her children were young, with grandparents living far away, she and her husband had to take turns looking after and caring for their children whenever she had night shifts. Fortunately, her husband also works in the medical field, so he always understands and shares her difficulties and hardships.
She will also never forget the days when the medical staff at the Center had to work tirelessly to treat and care for COVID-19 patients. Each night shift for the nurses and doctors lasted for many hours, their bodies drenched in sweat, yet they still made their utmost effort to help patients overcome the disease.
Although 13 years of experience may not be a long time, nurse Nguyen Thi Hieu (Department of Surgery, 333 Regional General Hospital, Ea Kar District) always believes that wearing the white lab coat and performing the task of caring for patients' health is a great honor.
In a story about her profession, she revealed that the Surgery Department where she works often receives traffic accident victims, most of whom are admitted unconscious and have consumed alcohol. It's common for family members to become anxious about the patient's health, lose their temper, raise their voices, insult, or even threaten to assault doctors and nurses.
During peak periods like holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), the number of patients injured in traffic accidents and fights increases, further increasing the workload for nurses. The department's duties aren't over yet; during peak periods of dengue fever and other infectious diseases, nurses are also deployed to other departments and wards to alleviate the patient overload. "The interrupted sleep, hurried meals, and countless unnamed pressures of a nurse's job can only be alleviated when each patient recovers and is discharged," Ms. Hieu believes.

According to the Chairwoman of the Provincial Nursing Association, Nguyen Thao Truc Chi, on average, the province's nursing staff serves more than 4.5 million patients annually for examination and treatment, and provides over 4.6 million inpatient care days. Nurses are present with patients throughout their treatment journey, from performing precise technical procedures to offering comfort and humane support. Each nurse is a silent heart of the hospital, an irreplaceable pillar of support for both patients and doctors.
Despite high work pressure and limited support, each nurse demonstrates a heightened sense of responsibility in healthcare and protecting human lives. They are no longer merely caregivers but have become a pioneering force, working alongside the healthcare industry to build a healthy and sustainable society.
