Ho Chi Minh City leaders visit and pay tribute to 3 artists.

(NLĐO) – Many artists and writers who have made significant contributions to the literature and arts of Ho Chi Minh City in particular, and the whole country in general, were visited and presented with gifts.

People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, representing the city's leadership - visited and presented gifts to outstanding artists on the afternoon of July 22nd.

The artists included: Manager and choreographer Hoang Thuy Ha of the Thong Nhat Quang-Trieu Opera Troupe, member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Literature and Arts of Ethnic Minorities in the City; People's Artist Bui Xuan Hanh - member of the City's Dance Artists Association, former General Secretary and President of the Dance Artists Association in its early period; Doctor - Artist Hoang Van Tuc - Lecturer, researcher, former Deputy General Secretary of the first term, member of the Theoretical and Critical Committee of the City's Dance Artists Association.

This is a meaningful activity to recognize and express gratitude for the contributions of artists in general, and especially those who participated in the revolution, won State Awards, Ho Chi Minh Awards, People's Artists, and Meritorious Artists, who have dedicated their lives to the cultural and artistic activities of the city, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Unification of the Country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Over the past time, you have made contributions to the industry, especially to dance, folk dance, and ethnic dance, and we greatly appreciate that. We are currently in the context of summarizing 50 years of literature and art in the city. Localities have done so, the central government has done so, but Ho Chi Minh City, under the direction of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, is a little behind, but will do so at the end of August to practically commemorate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

We are now in the context of a large city, after its merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. This event is organized on a large scale, extending across the administrative boundaries of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. For this event, we are also planning to hold a meeting with artists, from those of the liberation movement in the South to prominent senior artists."

On behalf of the family, Dr. and artist Hoang Van Tuc thanked the delegation for their visit. He added: "We need to pay attention to scientific research. In my opinion, the scientific research in the field of dance is somewhat weak. Research is important; without scientific research, we cannot achieve anything. Even people who plant trees now conduct research." People's Artist Thanh Thuy acknowledged his contribution.

People's Artist Bui Xuan Hanh shared that at 84, he still confidently rides a motorbike. "I've been retired for the past 5-7 years. I still have many scripts, but I haven't participated in developing any for any troupe. The reason for my retirement is partly due to health issues, and partly because the younger generation is doing a fresher job. But if needed, I will revise the scripts sometime and send them to Ms. Thuy and the Department for consideration," People's Artist Bui Xuan Hanh confided.

People's Artist Thanh Thúy said that the scripts aren't necessarily about the new city; old themes, revolutionary stories, and national culture are also very necessary. There's still a shortage of good scripts, so if any are found, she will entrust them to the Bông Sen National Folk Song and Dance Theatre or the dance troupe.
