Ho Chi Minh City honors outstanding artists

(NLDO) - Ho Chi Minh City leaders visited and paid tribute to outstanding artists on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts, recognizing their lasting contributions to the arts.

On the morning of October 17, a delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders led by Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc visited and expressed gratitude to many artists on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts.

Accompanying the delegation were Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, and representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Association.

This is a meaningful activity to recognize and express gratitude to the artists in general, especially those who participated in the revolution, artists who were awarded the State Prize, Ho Chi Minh Prize, People's Artist, Meritorious Artist titles, and many faces who have persistently contributed to the literature and arts of Ho Chi Minh City.

At Thi Nghe Nursing Home (Gia Dinh ward), the delegation kindly visited and gave gifts to 5 artists: Huynh Thanh Tra, Mac Can, Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien, Ngoc Dang and Lam Son.

Despite his advanced age, artist Mac Can still maintains an optimistic spirit, a gentle smile and a sharp memory. During the visit, he happily shared memorable memories of his career, from his roles on stage to his films that have been associated with audiences.

Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien is known as the "number one martial artist" of the reformed theater, making an impression with plays such as "The Peach Flag Female General", "The General Nhuy Kieu"... Welcoming the delegation of leaders, she emotionally performed the excerpt "Tru Vuong Burning Himself".

On the same day, the delegation also visited and talked with People's Artist Tra Giang, musician Pham Minh Tuan and artist Le Giang, listening to the artists' sharing about their career and valuable contributions to the development of the city's and country's culture and arts.

People's Artist Tra Giang shared about her passion for painting in her old age. Up to now, she has hundreds of paintings of all genres, with many group and individual exhibitions. People's Artist Tra Giang also expressed her joy and deep gratitude when the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City visited and expressed her gratitude.
