Art program "Light from the Ashes"

Amidst the countless entertainment programs that unfold daily, there are nights of art that aren't created to seek applause. They are created to awaken memories, connect hearts, and remind us that kindness still exists in life.

"A Flame from the Ashes" is one such program. On the evening of May 22nd, at Hall A of the An Bien Commune People's Committee, An Giang Province, the "A Flame from the Ashes" art performance and fundraising event will officially take place with a simple but challenging goal: using art to spread love and support for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.

Organized in anticipation of the 65th anniversary of the Day for Victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 – August 10, 2026), this program was held by students from the University of Cultural Management 18.1 class – Faculty of Cultural and Arts Management, with the desire to transform empathy into concrete action.

Let's not let the pain of war become just numbers.

Meritorious Artist and Director Hoang Duan shared: "There are consequences of war that don't stop at the moment the guns fall silent. Agent Orange has left lasting effects across many generations."

Therefore, he devoted himself to implementing this meaningful program, for children born with disabilities, families living in hardship, and stories that are not always mentioned in the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Dr., Meritorious Artist, director, and screenwriter Hoang Duan has been directing rehearsals for several days, aiming for high artistic quality in the art program "The Flame from the Ashes".

"It's worth noting that as time passes, memories tend to fade away. 'The Flame from the Ashes' takes a different approach: instead of telling the story of pain to evoke sympathy, it tells the story of resilience to inspire a sense of community responsibility," the director shared.

Through music , stage performances, interactions, and real-life stories, the program aims to help young people understand that today's peace is not something that comes naturally, and that sharing is never an outdated value.

An art night created with heart.

What makes this program special is that it's not a purely professional activity, but rather a community project with serious professional investment.

The program is guided by Meritorious Artist and Director Hoang Duan and Dr. Vu Thi Bich Duyen, with media support from many artists, singers, and young talents.

The stage will feature performances by Ms. Hoang Thi Nhung (MSc) and singer, singers Huong Thanh Xuan, Minh Tri, Bao Ngan, singer-songwriter Cao Thai Tuan, along with approximately 100 students from the Faculty of Cultural and Arts Management.

Notably, musician Cao Thai Tuan – a former student of the department – composed the theme song "The Flame from the Ashes" as a musical message about the power of rebirth from things that seemed to have turned to dust.

The art space is structured around three emotional chapters: Echoes from the Past; Echoes of Pain; and a Song of Hope.

The three movements are not just a theatrical arrangement, but also resemble an emotional journey – from reflection and understanding to action.

Each ticket is a contribution to a good cause.

The organizers stated that the program aims to award: 20 gifts to families affected by Agent Orange with particularly difficult circumstances in An Bien commune (each gift worth 2 million VND); and 30 gifts to poor but studious students in the area.

The total value of the support is expected to be 55 million VND. But perhaps the greatest value lies not in the number itself, but in the feeling that these families know they are still remembered.

It's about helping students who are struggling understand that there are still many people who have faith in their future.

And it's also an opportunity for each audience member to take home something more than just a performance.

Come and help keep that flame burning!

Some artistic performances end when the stage lights go out. But there are also performances that truly begin only when the audience leaves the hall, carrying with them a different perspective on life.

"The Flame from the Ashes" hopes to become a night like that. A night to remember that amidst so many things that drive people apart, there is always art that brings us closer together.

The program will take place at 6 PM on May 22, 2026, in Hall A of the An Bien Commune People's Committee, An Giang Province. Attendees will not only enjoy the art but also join in writing a beautiful story about compassion.
