In Lao Cai, the development of the e-library for tourism creates a rich digital database on local culture and tourism, opening a "digital gateway" to bring the image of this border region closer to domestic and international tourists.

In line with the province's orientation towards promoting digital transformation, the Provincial Tourism Information and Promotion Center has proactively researched, developed, and put into operation a digital tourism e-book library. This library serves as a "digital tourism knowledge repository," gathering unique values ​​about the nature, culture, and people of Lao Cai, integrating various types of materials such as e-books, photos, thematic articles, digital maps, and travel guides.

The Lao Cai tourism e-book library has digitized and collected more than 32 books on diverse topics, introducing the culture, tourism, guidebooks, and beautiful photo collections of the landscapes and people of Lao Cai.

Through this platform, tourists' journeys exploring Lao Cai will be more proactive and enriching. With just an internet-connected device, users can easily research destinations in advance, choose suitable itineraries, discover unique aspects of local culture, or find suggestions for food , accommodation, and community-based activities.

The Lao Cai e-tourism library contributes to promoting the image of the natural beauty, culture, and people of the Lao Cai highlands to domestic and international tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: “Before my trip to Lao Cai, I spent time researching information through the e-book on tourism to create a suitable itinerary. The information was presented in a very easy-to-understand and searchable way. Besides famous tourist attractions, there was also a lot of content introducing local culture, cuisine, traditional crafts, and interesting community experiences. Thanks to this, I was able to easily arrange a suitable itinerary for my family and have many meaningful experiences throughout the trip.”

From the terraced rice fields in Y Tý during the rainy season, the white blossoms of plum trees in Bắc Hà, the majestic Fansipan peak, to the vibrant highland markets... all are vividly recreated on the digital platform of the Lao Cai Tourism E-book. The cultural spaces of ethnic groups, traditional festivals, handicrafts, folk art, and characteristic highland dishes are also presented in various visual and engaging forms, creating the feeling of a miniature "digital tour" for viewers.

Lao Cai cuisine has been added to the digital database, contributing to the promotion of local culture and making it easier for tourists to search for and experience it.

Not only does it facilitate tourists in learning about and exploring destinations, the Lao Cai Tourism E-Library has also demonstrated positive effectiveness in promoting digital tourism. The library has been showcased at numerous domestic and international tourism fairs, exhibitions, and conferences; receiving many positive reviews from tourists, businesses, and professional agencies. During its trial operation, the platform attracted over 10,000 visits and was contacted by many localities and organizations nationwide to learn about and emulate its model of digital transformation in the tourism sector.

Along with maintaining and regularly updating data, the Provincial Tourism Information and Promotion Center has also proactively developed two additional electronic publications, "Lao Cai Cuisine" and "Lao Cai Tourism Handbook," to supplement the digital data system, gradually completing the archive of materials to serve domestic and international tourists.

Mr. Pham Tat Thanh, Director of the Provincial Tourism Information and Promotion Center, stated: “The development of the e-library for tourism not only aims to meet the increasing information needs of tourists but also contributes to the formation of a digital data ecosystem serving the development of smart tourism. A key feature of the e-library is its ability to flexibly update and continuously add new content relevant to the practical development of local tourism, keeping the data repository vibrant and engaging for viewers.”

In the coming period, the center will continue to research and develop more high-quality electronic publications to provide more effective, useful, and convenient tourism information about Lao Cai for domestic and international tourists. At the same time, it will expand information dissemination methods through infographics, search software, AI-powered tourism guides, and other modern digital platforms.

From its electronic archive, the Lao Cai Tourism E-book is gradually becoming an "open guide" accompanying tourists on their journey to explore the Northwest border region – where the beauty of nature blends with the depth of traditional culture, creating a unique attraction for Lao Cai tourism in the digital age.
