The festival, recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, is held annually to commemorate and pay tribute to Lady Thu Bon – a deity revered by the local people and deeply connected to the spiritual life of the communities along the Thu Bon River. It also serves as a prayer for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, abundant harvests, and a comfortable life for the people.
The festival will feature many unique activities, including both ceremonial and festive events. The ceremonial part is expected to include traditional rituals such as the procession of the sacred relics, the procession of water on the Thu Bon River, and the grand sacrificial ceremony at Dinh Ba, all conducted solemnly according to long-standing folk customs.
In addition, the festival will feature many cultural and sporting activities for locals and tourists, such as traditional boat racing, Bài Chòi singing, folk art performances, folk games, and introductions to local cuisine.
Through organizing the festival, the organizers hope to continue preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, while also promoting the image of the local culture and people. This is also an opportunity for the locality to promote tourism development and introduce the unique image of the local people and culture to domestic and international tourists.
