The Ramadan festival of the Cham people who follow the Bani Muslim faith (abbreviated as Cham Bani people), also known as Ramadan (or the fasting month), is considered a traditional New Year with a distinct character of the Cham Bani Muslim community. Therefore, it is also called a "festival" or "New Year," taking place on the first day of the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and lasting for a month (meaning there is no fixed date, usually falling between March and June of the Gregorian calendar each year). In 2024, the festival falls in March (from March 11th).

Many Cham people living abroad will also return to celebrate the Ramuwan festival with their families.
