On June 25th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, held a press conference to introduce the 2026 Peace Festival with the theme "From Memory to the Future - Quang Tri for Peace" .
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the festival aims to further affirm the value of peace, honor the spirit of solidarity and friendship, and spread the message of peace to the people of the country as well as international friends.
According to Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, this is also an opportunity to commemorate and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; at the same time, to promote the image of Quang Tri as a modern, dynamic province with rich cultural identity, and to introduce the potential for tourism development and attract investment to the locality.

The festival will take place from April to December 2026 with many activities. The highlight is the opening ceremony on the evening of July 4, 2026, at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Monument. The program will be broadcast live on VTV1 with a multi-space real-life stage on the shore and on the river, connecting the North and South banks via the historic Hien Luong Bridge.
Highly appreciating Quang Tri's efforts in organizing a national and international-scale festival, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that the festival's rich series of activities will contribute to honoring the value of peace, arousing national pride, strengthening exchanges and cooperation, and promoting the image of Vietnam and its people to the world.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is working closely with Quang Tri province to ensure artistic quality and effective communication, gradually building the brand of the Festival for Peace into a cultural event with widespread influence both domestically and internationally.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized that the theme " From Memory to the Future - Quang Tri for Peace" sends a profound message about transforming historical memory into a foundation for nurturing peace, promoting tolerance, and moving towards sustainable development. The festival is not only a cultural event but also a practical contribution of Vietnam to the common efforts of the international community in promoting dialogue, enhancing understanding, and building a peaceful world.
According to the Organizing Committee, there will be many outstanding activities such as the Candlelight Ceremony to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs on the evening of July 26th at martyrs' cemeteries and memorial houses in Quang Tri province, combined with a lantern-releasing ceremony on the Thach Han River.
In the final months of the year, Quang Tri will host the International Hot Air Balloon Festival in November, with the participation of hot air balloon teams from many countries and territories; and the National Concert, scheduled for December, connecting the community through the language of music.
Prior to that, a Trinh Cong Son music night themed "Legend of Mother" will be held on June 20th at Bao Ninh Square (Dong Hoi). In addition, there will be many accompanying events such as an exhibition of paintings by artist Le Ba Dang...
