According to the March 28 announcement of the High School for Foreign Languages, Hanoi National University, the school stopped recruiting high-quality classes according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and increased the quota for specialized programs.
Grade 10 specializing in English recruits the most - 210 students, down 5 compared to last year. The remaining specialized classes all increased by 10-30 targets. In particular, Chinese, German and Japanese classes enroll 70 students; Russian, French, and Korean classes enroll 35 students each class. In total, the school enrolls 525 10th grade students.
This year, the Foreign Language Specialized High School held the entrance exam on the morning of June 1. Candidates take the exam in three subjects including Foreign Language, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Literature and Social Sciences.
In the Foreign Language subject, candidates can choose one of English, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean. Except for English, which can be used to enter all 7 specialized classes, the remaining foreign languages are only used for the corresponding specialized classes. This subject takes place in the form of multiple choice and essay, the test time is 90 minutes.
The remaining two subjects are tested in 55 minutes each. In particular, Literature has both essay and multiple choice sections, while Math is completely multiple choice. The Foreign Language Specialized High School announced the exam structure at the end of December last year.

The admission score is the total score of three tests on a 10-point scale, in which Foreign Language is multiplied by a factor of two. The school will consider from high to low until the quota is exhausted, from the specialized system with scholarships to the specialized system.

Every year, the quota for a foreign language specialized high school is about 500, of which 100 quotas are for non-specialized systems. The total number of applications for admission to the school is about 3.500-4.000.
In 2023, the standard score for English class is the highest - 25,42 points, the Korean class tested in Korean is the lowest with 22,34, the rest are mainly at 24-25 points.
