Linking for sustainable production

Thanks to close cooperation with growers, the mushroom spawn production model of Ms. Nguyen Thien Thuy's family (residing in Thanh Huong 2 village, Loc Thanh commune, Bao Loc city, Lam Dong province) has achieved many successes.

Ms. Nguyen Thien Thuy is the owner of the Long Thuy mushroom spawn farm. For many years, the spawn produced from Ms. Thuy's family's spawn farm has been supplied to the mushroom growing hamlet of village 4, Dam Bri commune, Bao Loc city.

Ms. Thuy said that instead of importing sawdust for processing like some other hatcheries, she chose to buy wood and grind it into sawdust herself, starting from the first step to the last step. Once the wood is ground into sawdust, Ms. Thuy will add nutrients, keep it moist, then go through the sterilization process and inoculate it with spawn.

The finished spawn bags are hung on racks, keeping the environment stable for 45 days. When the spawn bags are white, they are ready to be exported to farmers.

In the production of black fungus spawn, the most important thing is to maintain hygiene and ensure a stable environment. Therefore, Ms. Thuy's hatchery is built airy and cool, and the planting process is guaranteed in sterile conditions.

To get the seeds, she chooses beautiful mushroom buds, then isolates the seeds in an agar medium, then plants them in rice, cassava plants, and then has enough finished products to plant in bags. Notably, throughout the production process, Ms. Thuy strictly follows and monitors to avoid diseases transmitted from wood pulp.

Currently, Ms. Thuy only collects each bag of mushroom spawn once, ensuring a yield of 25g to 30g of dried mushrooms, bringing in a stable income of 15,000 to 20,000 VND/bag. Thanks to the income from making mushroom spawn, Ms. Thuy's family's economy is getting better and better.

"Determining a long-term relationship with mushroom growers, I always have to ensure the quality of mushroom spawn. Many people advised me to produce commercial mushrooms from my family's spawn bags to increase my income, but I didn't do it.

Taking care of commercial mushrooms is different from making spawn. If you produce commercial mushrooms while making spawn, it is very easy for diseases to spread to the mushroom spawn, which does not ensure quality for farmers," Ms. Thuy shared.

It is known that thanks to the use of high-quality mushroom spawn and technical support from Ms. Thuy's production facility, mushroom growers in Dam Bri commune have reduced many risks in the cultivation process, improving the productivity and quality of black fungus.

Not only providing spawn, the farm also provides technical guidance and biological drugs for people to cultivate mushrooms effectively. Keeping its reputation, Ms. Thuy's products are sold out as soon as they are produced.

At first, many people in the area did not know how to grow black fungus, but thanks to Ms. Thuy's enthusiastic guidance at the mushroom spawn production facility, they later became attached to the mushroom growing profession, had a comfortable life, and had enough to eat and save.

As for Ms. Thuy's facility, with its association in the production of wood ear mushroom spawn, it has contributed to the successful development of the wood ear mushroom growing area in Dam Bri commune, Bao Loc city, Lam Dong province.
