Coach Arne Slot admits Liverpool need to strengthen their squad. |
Liverpool Echo revealed that "The Kop" plans to add at least 4 new players, spread across the lines. The Anfield team is currently in contact with stars such as Newcastle's Alexander Isak or Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez. Coach Slot himself admitted that the summer transfer window of 2025 for Liverpool will be more bustling, in the context of the club's efforts to strengthen the squad.
Liverpool's board believe the club needs a world- class striker capable of scoring 30 goals a season, as well as reinforcements in defence and midfield. These reinforcements will hopefully help the team advance in the Champions League and the Premier League race.
"Liverpool have a strong squad with many quality players, but if they want to return to the top – especially in Europe – they need to improve in key positions," said former Arsenal player Emmanuel Petit. "They have signed a lot of strikers in the last few years, but I feel the team still lacks a top striker who can guarantee 30 goals a season."
Mohamed Salah remains at Anfield after signing a new contract, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz also had good seasons. Striker Darwin Nunez, who scored only 7 goals in the 2024/25 season, is likely to leave the team. In case Nunez leaves, Liverpool will definitely add a new striker.
In addition, Liverpool also need to strengthen the midfield and defense. Hungarian defender Milos Kerkez has been linked with the Anfield team recently. "The Kop" also wants to add a center-back and a midfielder.
