Manager Arne Slot admitted Liverpool need to strengthen their squad. |
Liverpool Echo reveals that "The Kop" are planning to add at least four new players, spread across all positions. The Anfield club are currently in contact with stars such as Alexander Isak of Newcastle and Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth. Manager Slot himself has admitted that the 2025 summer transfer window will be busier for Liverpool, as the club strives to strengthen its squad.
Liverpool's leadership believes the team needs another world- class striker capable of scoring 30 goals a season, while also strengthening the defense and midfield. These reinforcements are hoped to help the team progress further in the Champions League and the Premier League race.
"Liverpool have a strong squad with many quality players, but if they want to return to the top – especially in Europe – they need to improve in key positions," former Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit assessed. "They've signed several strikers in the last few years, but I feel the team still lacks a top scorer who can guarantee 30 goals a season."
Mohamed Salah remains at Anfield after signing a new contract, while Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz also had a decent season. Striker Darwin Nunez, who only scored 7 goals in the 2024/25 season, is highly likely to leave the club. If Nunez departs, Liverpool will certainly look to sign a new striker.
In addition, Liverpool also need to strengthen their midfield and defense. Hungarian defender Milos Kerkez has been heavily linked with the Anfield club recently. "The Kop" also want to add a central defender and a midfielder.
