Apple's big iPhone launch event is just days away, announcing the all-new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air models to entice users to upgrade. While the iPhone Air boasts an ultra-slim design, the 17 Pro will likely feature entirely new battery advantages, including wireless reverse charging.
Bloomberg previously wrote about Apple's major upgrade plan over the next three years, starting in 2025 with the release of the two aforementioned models. The iPhone 17 Air attracted attention for its thinness, lightness, and futuristic design, but at the cost of battery life, camera, and other features.
Conversely, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will continue to demonstrate the strengths of the flagship line with their long-lasting battery life. Not only do they excel in battery life, but these two models are also predicted to possess outstanding features.
Rumor expert Fixed Focus Digital revealed that Apple has been testing a new wireless reverse charging feature for the iPhone 17 Pro. The last time this feature was mentioned was in February by Instant Digital. Depending on how Apple implements it, this feature could allow users to charge AirPods, an Apple Watch, or even another iPhone using only their iPhone 17 Pro.
Over the years, there have been countless rumors about the iPhone getting wireless reverse charging. But according to 9to5Mac , there are several reasons to believe this could actually happen this year.
First, Apple needs to differentiate the iPhone 17 Pro line because the previous iPhone 17 Air already garnered attention with its novel design and affordable price. The Pro version will have more exclusive features to convince users to spend more money.
Additionally, design mockups suggest Apple is adjusting the logo placement on the back of the iPhone 17 series. The Apple logo will be positioned lower than usual. This design change may be intended to accommodate reverse wireless charging, where another device is placed on the logo to begin charging.
Finally, iOS 26 will bring a host of new battery-related features, such as Adaptive Power, which automatically adjusts factors when the battery is low, and displays battery consumption statistics. This further strengthens the possibility that a new battery feature like wireless reverse charging will be implemented.
