Held in the Boi Tran garden on Kim Son hill (Thuy Xuan ward, Hue city), the exhibition's theme, "A Dream of Dreams," reflects the sentiments of the organizers and the participation of renowned artists.
The continuation of dreams
The exhibition, set in a lush green garden, featured works by eight artists displayed outdoors on the grass, creating a poetic and peaceful scene perhaps unique to Hue. Alongside the master artists, the works of these young artists demonstrated artistic continuity.
Participating in this exhibition, artist Phan Thanh Bình presented viewers with a modern perspective expressed through the "architecture of color" in his works *Garden of Eden*, *Shadows of Time*, and *Echoes*. Originally an educator, artist Phan Thanh Bình (former Rector of the University of Arts, Hue University) possesses an artistic mindset that is both romantic and highly rational.
Instead of imposing order on his paintings, artist Phan Thanh Bình uses geometry to seek order within the chaos of emotions, processed on acrylic paint through layering techniques and the collision of masses. Within this emotional order, unexpected bursts of brilliant light and ever-changing spatial depth emerge.
Viewing the works of Mr. Binh, art lovers see an explosion of light created by overlapping brushstrokes. The spiritual sanctuary amidst nature, as depicted by Phan Thanh Binh's brush, is not only a visual effect but also a testament to the enduring strength of the soul.
While Phan Thanh Bình is a familiar name, artist Lê Hữu Long has remained almost "reclusive" in his own way in his artistic journey. Therefore, when the paintings of this artist from Hue, born in 1988, are exhibited, many are overwhelmed.
With a strong personality, Long always chooses a direct painting style to engage in direct dialogue with nature, the heritage of Hue, and his own emotions. The seamless blend of impressionistic and expressive brushstrokes is evident, where each brushstroke not only depicts the scenery but also conveys "emotion," capturing the essence of the space at the moment of creation. This is a hallmark of Le Huu Long's paintings, particularly in his two works on the theme of Hue's heritage: "The Green Imperial Palace" and "The Scent of the Paulownia Tree."
May the dream spread its fragrance.
In this gathering, the works of painter Hoang Dang Khanh are likened to those who weave silent verses of poetry. His artistic personality is imbued with tranquility, leading viewers into a world where time seems to slow down, becoming a gentle poem.
The most distinctive feature of Hoang Dang Khanh's style is its romantic, almost dreamy, quality. Looking at these works, one can truly appreciate Khanh's talent for using color to soften lines, making everything appear ethereal and delicate.
With the presence of renowned artists such as Tran Nguyen Dan, Nguyen Vu Lan, Tran Anh Huy, etc., the exhibition also contributed to creating a gathering of colors, touching the emotions of those who visited.
The exhibition organizers say that the very theme evokes a poetic image. It speaks of the enduring power of imagination, where dreams silently continue through generations, preserving memories while opening up new possibilities. There, landscapes, abstraction, cityscapes... fleeting glimpses or interwoven imaginary worlds, like pieces of a vast vision.
Ms. Tran Dinh Thuc Doan, manager of Boi Tran Garden and exhibition advisor, shared: “For us, the exhibition is also a continuation of a long-held dream. It is a dream that has been ignited, a dream nurtured by esteemed guests, long-time friends, and young people embarking on their creative journeys. We hope the exhibition will become a bridge, allowing them to bring their dreams to this garden. From here, they can set sail to new lands, where our dreams can spread their fragrance and beauty to friends around the world.”
