The results of field tests conducted by the Center for Applied Science and Technology and Innovation (Department of Science and Technology) show that, compared to the control rice variety N97, the Huong glutinous rice variety has a growth period of 120-123 days, which is 3-5 days shorter than the N97 variety.

Although they have similar tillering capacity, Huong glutinous rice has more advantages: large, long panicles, low number of empty grains, high total number of grains per panicle, high number of filled grains per panicle, and high grain weight.

Huong glutinous rice has a shorter growing season compared to N97 glutinous rice, with large, long panicles and firm grains.

The yield of the Huong glutinous rice variety reached nearly 70 quintals/hectare, which is over 8 quintals/hectare higher, equivalent to an economic efficiency of nearly 10 million VND/hectare higher than the N97 variety.

In addition, the Huong glutinous rice variety has a strong stem, making it resistant to lodging during heavy rains, saving farmers time in tying up the rice plants. Its resistance to rice blast disease is very good, many times higher than that of the N97 variety.

The Huong glutinous rice variety yields higher economic returns compared to the control variety N97, by nearly 10 million VND/ha.

In the spring of 2025, the center implemented a model for growing fragrant glutinous rice on a total area of ​​30 hectares in the communes of Ung Hoe (Ninh Giang), Tan Viet (Binh Giang), and Ngu Phuc (Kim Thanh).
