High-wage and low-wage workers all... shake their heads
From the beginning of the year until now, in addition to recruiting through job exchanges and submitting applications at companies, many businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have had to livestream and send employees to major streets to "attract" workers. . However, the more businesses try to persuade, the more workers "avoid".
Mr. Huong, representative of the recruitment department of TD Vietnam Textile and Garment Company Limited (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), said that labor recruitment is very difficult. For nearly a month now, the company has advertised to recruit 1 unskilled workers from 200 to 18 years old but is currently only recruiting 55 people.
"The company has used all forms to recruit such as: hot bonuses for new workers, support in finding rooms near the company, annual salary increases, travel allowances... but there are still no applicants." , Mr. Huong sighed.
According to Mr. Huong, the situation of workers "criticizing" their jobs is because the company's income level is not high, most are from 6 to 10 million VND/month. With a salary "not enough to live on", workers choose to work in neighboring provinces such as Dong Nai and Binh Duong to save costs.
“The standard of living in Ho Chi Minh City is quite high, so an income of 6-10 million VND only helps workers support themselves, but is difficult to support their families. In Ho Chi Minh City, it is increasingly crowded and traffic jams so they go to neighboring provinces to work to both save costs and save time commuting to work," Mr. Huong added.
Not only TD company, even Viet Tien Garment Joint Stock Corporation (Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City) also has difficulty attracting workers. From the beginning of the year until now, the company needs to recruit 1.000 workers with income from 11 to 30 million VND/month but can only recruit 20-30 people per day. Recruitment positions are: sewing, fabric cutting, ironing, packaging, inspection, management...
“Instead of providing rental support or travel expenses, the company pays high salaries so that workers can proactively spend money for themselves and their families. We offer enough income for workers to pay expenses in the city and have money to accumulate, but we still recruit very few workers," said Mr. Ngo Thanh Phat, CEO of Viet Tien Garment Joint Stock Corporation. , information.
Workers tend to return to their hometowns
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (40 years old, from Quang Nam) said that she previously worked as a garment worker for a company in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. Income level is from 7 to 10 million VND/month, including basic salary and insurance, attendance pay, overtime, allowances...
However, after nearly 10 years of working as a worker, she only had enough to make ends meet and had no accumulated money. For more than a month now, she has been looking for a job that suits her desire for higher income, but so far she has not found one. Businesses that pay low wages do not have enough expenses, businesses that pay high wages require high skills.
"For many years as a worker, I always had to "tighten my belt" without any savings, so I wanted to find a new job with improved income. From now until the end of March, if I cannot find a suitable job, I will return to my hometown to work. In my hometown, there is now an industrial park with stable salaries," Ms. Lan confided.
According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, from the beginning of the year until now, many businesses in the city have had difficulty recruiting new workers, especially businesses recruiting large numbers.
Most workers are always interested in salary, working hours, and welfare benefits when applying for jobs. Therefore, when workers see that their salary and benefits are not guaranteed, they tend to return to their hometown to work closer to home. Currently, all localities have industrial parks and economic zones, so more and more workers return to their hometowns to work.
To attract workers, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs believes that businesses, especially those recruiting a large number of workers, need to pay more attention to salary, bonus and welfare regimes.
“Enterprises with good remuneration policies, many development opportunities, and a safe working environment will have more favorable labor recruitment. At the same time, the enterprise's employees will act as a bridge to introduce relatives and friends to work when the enterprise needs to recruit workers," the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs stated.
