On the afternoon of June 16th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized a meeting and dialogue with farmers in 2026. This was the first time Nghe An province held a dialogue conference between the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and farmers to listen to their thoughts, aspirations, suggestions, and proposals; to exchange ideas, resolve difficulties, and discuss solutions for agricultural development, improving farmers' lives, and building sustainable new rural areas in the new phase.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association - emphasized that agriculture continues to be a pillar of the economy, with export turnover reaching over 70 billion USD in 2025. However, the sector still faces many challenges regarding production linkages, agricultural product consumption, brand building, and digital transformation.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association requested that the Nghe An Farmers' Association at all levels continue to innovate its activities, support farmers in accessing capital, linking production, and effectively implementing policies and guidelines for the development of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.

The conference received nearly 700 questions, suggestions, and proposals from officials, members, farmers, businesses, cooperatives, scientists, and specialized agencies addressed to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Trong Hai. The opinions focused on difficulties and obstacles in agricultural production and consumption, access to policies, digital transformation, application of science and technology, environmental protection, and rural development.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Luong (from Minh Ho hamlet, Minh Hop commune) expressed concern about the decline of the Vinh orange brand, as the area under cultivation, product quality, and market reputation have all decreased in recent years.

Responding to this issue, Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, Director of the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Environment, stated that the people's feedback is entirely valid. While the area of Vinh oranges reached over 6,100 hectares in 2018, it has now decreased to only about 1,970 hectares.
According to Mr. Viet, the main reasons are diseases, especially citrus greening disease and soil-borne fungal diseases; and soil degradation after many years of cultivation. In addition, seed sources are not strictly controlled, with many households self-propagating or buying seeds from unreliable sources, resulting in plants already carrying diseases. The overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides also reduces fruit quality and affects brand reputation.

To restore and sustainably develop Vinh oranges, the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An province stated that the province will focus on treating severely diseased orange orchards, guiding crop rotation to improve soil before replanting; promoting the production of disease-free seedlings using micrografting technology in greenhouses; expanding production according to VietGAP and organic standards; strengthening traceability, granting planting area codes, and promoting trade.
Specifically, according to Resolution No. 34/2025/NQ-HĐND, people planting new or replanting orange trees will receive support covering 80% of the cost of seedlings and 5 million VND/ha for land preparation costs.

Concluding the conference, Mr. Vo Trong Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, requested that after the dialogue, the Party committees and authorities of the communes should build mechanisms for receiving, monitoring, urging, and promptly, publicly, and effectively resolving farmers' requests. At the same time, departments, agencies, and localities should continue to closely coordinate with the Farmers' Association in receiving and processing feedback and requests; and regularly inform members and farmers about the results of the resolution process so that they can monitor and supervise.
During the period 2022-2025, Nghe An's agricultural sector maintained positive growth momentum with an average GRDP growth rate of nearly 4.5% per year. Agricultural labor productivity in 2025 is estimated to reach 81.2 million VND/person, an increase of 8.7 million VND compared to 2022.
The living standards of rural people continue to improve, with average income reaching VND 47.184 million per person in 2025, a 1.33-fold increase compared to 2022. Nghe An aims to raise this income level to 2-2.5 times that of 2022 by 2030.
